The Buddhas who are perfectly and completely enlightened are for the sake of possessing immeasurable qualities. When this Dharma category, which possesses the great roar of a lion, was spoken, this realm of the three thousand great thousand worlds shook three times. It shook universally. It shook exceedingly universally. It trembled. It trembled universally. It trembled exceedingly universally. It swayed. It swayed universally. It swayed exceedingly universally. It stirred. It stirred universally. It stirred exceedingly universally. Then, the lord of the retinue, Brahma, and the lord of the gods, Indra, dwelling in their respective retinues, thought to themselves: "This Buddha, the Bhagavan, is dwelling near the city of Kusha, and having tamed the giants born from the city of Kusha with great miraculous displays of magic, before long he will completely pass into the realm of nirvana without remainder. What if we were to go forth and finally behold that Bhagavan, the Tathagata, the Arhat, the perfectly and completely enlightened one?" Then, the lord of the retinue, Brahma, and the lord of the gods, Indra, having disappeared from their respective retinues, together with the gods who abide in desire and the gods who abide in form, stood before the Bhagavan. The lord of the retinue, Brahma, being seated on one side, at that time requested with verses: "Perfectly enlightened one, possessing fame, to see them is truly difficult, like the flower of the Udumbara, difficult to encounter even in billions of eons. Shakya Lion, supreme among humans, teacher, like you is truly difficult to encounter, together with the gods abiding in form, joining palms, I bow to you." The lord of the gods, Indra, being seated on one side, at that time requested with verses: "My Dharma eye is utterly pure, in my heart the lamp of Dharma blazes, the doors of the evil destinies are cut off, I have no fear of falling into evil destinies. Alas, compassionate teacher, wishing to benefit and possessing loving-kindness, together with the gods abiding in desire, joining palms, I bow to you. Soon you will pass into nirvana, this is the final beholding of you." The lord of the retinue, Brahma, and the lord of the gods, Indra, said thus.

After the request, they bowed their heads to the feet of the Bhagavan, circumambulated the Bhagavan three times, faced the Bhagavan, gazed with their eyes, bowed their heads, and then disappeared. Then, the Bhagavan, understanding the assembled retinue as it had gathered, knowing their intentions, faith, faculties, and nature, taught the Dharma that enables one to truly realize the Four Noble Truths. Just by hearing this, some of the giants born in the city of Kusha generated warm roots of virtue, some generated the peak, some generated small and medium patience, some generated the supreme Dharmas that accord with the truth, some manifested the fruit of stream-entry, some manifested the fruit of once-returning, some manifested the fruit of non-returning, some, having renounced and abandoned all afflictions, manifested the state of Arhatship, some became those who generated the mind for the Bodhi of the Hearers, some became those who generated the mind for the Bodhi of the Solitary Buddhas, and some became those who generated the mind for the Unsurpassed Perfect and Complete Bodhi. The Buddhas, the Bhagavat, are those who show the fruit of the Dharma that has fruit, and most of that retinue abides in taking refuge in the Buddha, inclining towards the Dharma, and rejoicing in the Sangha. This was the last great assembly of the Bhagavan's teachings. Then, the giants born in the city of Kusha were overjoyed with supreme joy, bowed their heads to the feet of the Bhagavan, circumambulated the Bhagavan three times, and then went forth from the presence of the Bhagavan. The Noble Sutra of Throwing Stones is complete. Translated by the translator Zang Skyong, revised by Pal Tsek.
