They will also approach various views that have the extreme of permanence, and they will also approach the complete union of desires in this very life, and they will also approach the joy of extreme solitude, and they will also approach the happiness without confusion, and they will also approach the feeling that is neither suffering nor happiness, one should desire thus. Furthermore, if someone says, "I am peaceful, I am extinguished, I am without obstruction, I am without approaching, the self that I had before, I do not have now," even that person appears to have an approach to self. Monks, that is also coarse, conditioned, thought, and dependently originated. Just like this, if actions exist, then the cessation of actions must also exist. The Tathagata thoroughly understands this, and thus returns from it, and sees it as peaceful, sees it as liberation, and abides in it. Monks, those who speak of extinguishing in this very life, are those who proclaim extinguishing in this very life. Monks, furthermore, as the unsurpassed tamer of men, I have awakened to complete enlightenment through my own direct knowledge, and have proclaimed other supreme positions. Monks, as the unsurpassed tamer of men, I have awakened to complete enlightenment through my own direct knowledge, and have proclaimed other supreme positions, what is that? Monks, just like this, because the outflows are exhausted, there is liberation that is without outflows and not made by assembly. Monks, that is the supreme position that I, as the unsurpassed tamer of men, have awakened to complete enlightenment through my own direct knowledge, and have proclaimed. After the Blessed One spoke thus, the monks rejoiced and praised the words spoken by the Blessed One. Intermediate verses: Different thoughts and form, annihilation and permanence views, Illusions, water, and staffs, the tamer is not the end. The Great Sutra Fifty-Three is complete.
