The Great Sutra Called "Welcoming the Embodied Heart". The Great Sutra Called "Welcoming the Embodied Heart". In Sanskrit: Bimīsāra Pratyuṅga Mana Nāma Mahāsūtraṃ. In Tibetan: The Great Sutra Called "Welcoming the Embodied Heart". Homage to the Three Jewels. Thus I have heard. Once, the Blessed One, together with a great Sangha of a thousand monks, all of whom were formerly with matted hair, all of whom were Arhats, free from defilements, having accomplished what needed to be done, having done what needed to be done, having laid down the burden, having attained their own benefit, having completely exhausted the bonds of existence, their minds utterly liberated by perfect knowledge, were traveling in the country of Magadha, and arrived at the bamboo grove of the Rabbrtan (Constant Stability) shrine of the Magadhas. There the Blessed One arrived at Rabbrtan and stayed in the bamboo grove of the Rabbrtan shrine of the Magadhas. The king of the country of Magadha, Skilled Embodied Heart, heard that the Blessed One, together with a great Sangha of a thousand monks, all of whom were formerly with matted hair, all of whom were Arhats, free from defilements, having accomplished what needed to be done, having done what needed to be done, having laid down the burden, having attained their own benefit, having completely exhausted the bonds of existence, their minds utterly liberated by perfect knowledge, were traveling in the country of Magadha, and arrived at the bamboo grove of the Rabbrtan shrine of the Magadhas. There the Blessed One arrived at Rabbrtan and stayed in the bamboo grove of the Rabbrtan shrine of the Magadhas. Having heard this, with the great wealth of the king and the great power of the king, with twenty thousand chariots, eighty thousand herds of horses, and numerous hundreds of thousands of Brahmins and householders of the country of Magadha, for the sake of seeing the Blessed One and paying homage, he set out from the royal palace. As far as the land allowed for riding, he traveled by chariot, and then dismounted from the chariot, and entered the park on foot. Where did the king of the country of Magadha, Skilled Embodied Heart, see the Blessed One?

During that time, the five symbols of kingship—the crown, the umbrella, the sword, the jewel-handled yak-tail fan, and the gaudy shoes—were removed and set aside. Then, the king of Magadha, named Skillfully Shaped Essence, having removed the five symbols of kingship, went to where the Blessed One was. Having arrived, he draped his upper robe over one shoulder, knelt on his right knee, and, facing the Blessed One, reverently joined his palms and said: 'Venerable sir, I am the king of Magadha, named Skillfully Shaped Essence.' 'Venerable sir, I am the king of Magadha, named Skillfully Shaped Essence.' He proclaimed his name three times, saying that he was the king. The Blessed One said: 'Great king, it is so. It is so, great king, you are the king of Magadha, named Skillfully Shaped Essence. Great king, you are the king of Magadha, named Skillfully Shaped Essence. You are the king.' 'Great king, please sit on whatever seat is yours.' Then, the king of Magadha, named Skillfully Shaped Essence, bowed his head at the feet of the Blessed One and sat down to one side. Some of the Brahmins and householders of Magadha bowed their heads at the feet of the Blessed One and sat down to one side. Some exchanged courteous greetings with the Blessed One, engaging in pleasant and joyful conversation, and then sat down to one side. Some, facing the Blessed One, reverently joined their palms and sat down to one side. Some, having seen the Blessed One from afar, sat down to one side without saying anything. At that time, the long-haired, venerable Uruvilvā Kāśyapa (迦叶,Kāśyapa,迦叶波,饮光) was gathered there with his retinue and was sitting. Then, the Brahmins and householders of Magadha thought to themselves: 'Is this great ascetic practicing the holy life under the long-haired Uruvilvā Kāśyapa (迦叶,Kāśyapa,迦叶波,饮光), or is the long-haired Uruvilvā Kāśyapa (迦叶,Kāśyapa,迦叶波,饮光) himself practicing the holy life in the presence of this great ascetic?'
