the knots of the aggregates, and the knots of the aggregates that appear to be attached to the notion that 'this is true' and are regarded as supreme, those will be abandoned. Because of abandoning those, the demon will be frustrated, will be discouraged, will abide impartially, the evil demon will become invisible, thereby destroying the demon and the demon's retinue, engaging in the battle of the great war, completely victorious from the war, and abiding having completely defeated the war itself. Thus, for those who abide in following the noble Hearers who are engaged in higher wisdom, living by wisdom is the most supreme way of living among all ways of living. After the Blessed One spoke thus, those monks rejoiced and praised what the Blessed One had said. Intermediate verses: The madman and the illusion, The drunkard and the echo, The executioner and the mirror, Food offerings and the mirage, The city tormented by thieves, The pleasures of food in dreams, The purity of jewel armlets, All are gathered in the net of illusion.
