Son of the Earth, these four dharmas are for the sake of bodhisattvas' complete purification of bodhi. What are the four? Namely: meditating on emptiness, having a mind without hatred towards all sentient beings, constantly benefiting and closely accomplishing for the bodhisattvas, and truly teaching the dharma of giving with a mind free from defilement. Son of the lineage, these four dharmas are for the sake of the bodhisattva mahasattvas' complete purification of bodhi. Then, the Bhagavan spoke these verses to that meaning: By what do the victorious ones become pure? By delighting in emptiness, it is said to be the beginning of the path. Whoever dwells in it with constant mindfulness, that one, having attained Buddhahood, illuminates the world. Always rejoicing for all sentient beings, not desiring to say "ka" to anything, abandoning pride and being patient with beings, this is the second path of purification. Whatever lovely, immaculate thing there may be, give it to those who strive for supreme bodhi, and do not desire a return from them, this is the third path of supreme bodhi. The compassionate one must certainly, with a mind free from defilement, always give the Dharma to beings, cherishing them with superior intention, thus is the fourth path practiced by the wise. Son of the lineage, furthermore, the bodhisattva mahasattva, having practiced dharani, should rely on solitary places, should go to listen to the Dharma, should hold pure clothes, should dwell alone, should abide in the four postures, should practice and have faith in the intention to accomplish various offerings for the Dharma speakers, should have reverence for the Three Jewels, should not be influenced by others, should not be completely weary, should always initiate diligence, should not waver, should not be separated from the recollection of the Buddha, should meditate well on the unconditioned and the signless, should act as spoken, should have faith in praying to the Buddha, should be skilled in confessing sins, rejoicing in merits, and dedicating them, should not engage in unexamined conduct, should not be afraid, should abide by relying on the teacher and the lama. Should harmoniously uphold.

These teachings should be practiced with unflagging diligence. When the Bhagavan expounded this Dharma discourse, thirty thousand beings, who had not previously generated the mind [of enlightenment], generated the mind for Bodhi. Five thousand beings, regarding all dharmas, attained the Dharma-eye, which is without dust, without stain, and perfectly pure. Thirty thousand Bodhisattvas attained acceptance of the Dharma of non-arising. Hearing this Dharma discourse is cherished by Bodhisattvas, great beings. If someone were to fill the three-thousand-great-thousand world-system with the seven precious substances for as many eons as there are grains of sand in the Ganges River and give generously to the Three Jewels, and someone were to hear this Dharma discourse, the latter would be far superior to the former. If someone were to practice the five perfections for a thousand eons, excluding the Perfection of Wisdom, and someone were to hear this Dharma discourse, this would be far superior to those. If someone were to attend upon, respect, remember, and make offerings to a thousand Buddhas in the morning, at noon, and in the evening, and someone were to hear this Dharma discourse, this would be far superior to those. Sons of good family, therefore, I entrust this Dharma discourse to you for the sake of guarding, upholding, reading, teaching, and writing it down. You should protect my teachings, even at the cost of your body and life. After the Bhagavan had spoken thus, the Bodhisattvas who dwelt without negligence, and those Bodhisattvas, and those monks, and that assembly complete in every way, and the world with its gods, humans, asuras, and gandharvas rejoiced and praised what the Bhagavan had said. Thus concludes the Great Vehicle Sutra, "The Holy One Who Does Not Abandon the Buddha." Translated, revised, and finalized by the Indian Abbot Jinamitra, Prajnavarma, and the reviser-translator Bande Yeshede and others.
