This is the chapter called "Thus," the sixty-fourth chapter. The ritual is as follows: If you wish to cause heavy rain, hang a blue banner in a clean, uncovered place, and suspend blue streamers. The Dharma speaker should bathe, abide by the eight precepts, wear clean blue clothes, anoint himself with fragrant incense, eat three white foods, and sit on a blue cushion, facing east. After praying to all the Tathagatas, this chapter of the Great Cloud Mandala should be recited day and night without interruption. Four full vases filled with blue water should be placed. Offer tormas, incense, and flowers to the best of your ability. Then, the Dharma speaker should draw images in the four directions with the juice of cow dung: In the east, draw a three-cubit-high, three-headed dragon king with various dragon attendants, using cow dung juice. In the south, draw a five-cubit-high, five-headed dragon king with various dragon attendants. In the west, draw a seven-cubit-high, seven-headed dragon king with various dragon attendants. In the north, draw a nine-cubit-high, nine-headed dragon king with various dragon attendants. The Dharma speaker should protect his body, abide in loving-kindness, cultivate compassion towards all sentient beings, pray to all the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, and dedicate the roots of virtue to the nagas. This is the ritual. If there is no rain, reciting this chapter of the Great Cloud Wind Mandala will undoubtedly cause rain to fall within one or two to seven days. The ocean may pass its season, but this rain ritual from the scriptures of the Great Sage will not change. However, one must abide in morality and virtue, completely abandoning immoral conduct, meat, fish, and the like. One should eat milk porridge, yogurt, milk, rice with molasses, and the three sweets while reciting. In this way, it will be accomplished, as the King of Sages has said, without any doubt.
