They speak discordantly and are angry everywhere. Ananda, furthermore, if a monk is manifestly attached to self and violates discipline, Ananda, a monk possessing these two qualities abandons the Bodhi of the Buddha, speaks discordantly, and is angry everywhere. Ananda, furthermore, if a monk is immoral and engages in incorrect rituals, he becomes timid when he hears talk of morality because he possesses immorality. Ananda, a monk possessing these three qualities abandons the Bodhi of the Buddha, speaks discordantly, and is angry everywhere. Ananda, furthermore, if a monk is one who contemplates signs and speaks of self, he becomes afraid of detachment when he hears talk of emptiness, and becomes agitated and extremely agitated. Ananda, a monk possessing these four qualities abandons the Bodhi of the Buddha, speaks discordantly, and is angry everywhere. The Blessed One spoke thus, and the Sugata spoke thus, and the Teacher spoke thus again: A monk with excessive pride, with the perception of having attained what has not been attained, therefore abandons the profound Dharma I have taught. Whatever monk who speaks Dharma is mixed with worldly concerns, he utterly abandons this profound Sutra that I have taught. Whatever monk speaks of self, because he dwells greatly on signs, even after hearing the Dharma of no-self, abandons my teaching. Whatever monk is immoral, because he does not guard against sinful Dharmas, when he hears the Dharma of subduing possessions, abandons my teaching. The teaching of the protector, Shakya Lion, is abandoned by the immoral of wisdom, and after abandoning it, upon the destruction of the body, one will be born in the evil realms. Ananda, a monk possessing four qualities, when he hears the Dharma and Vinaya realized by the Thus-Gone One, will obtain great joy and supreme joy. Ananda, what are the four in this case? A monk is one who does not have excessive pride. He is not mixed with worldly concerns. He is one who teaches pure Dharma to others. He is not one who possesses signs. Self.

And not be particularly attached to it. Possessing virtuous qualities and endowed with discipline. Venerable Ananda, a monk possessing these four qualities, upon hearing the Dharma and Vinaya realized by the Tathagata, will obtain great joy and supreme joy. The Blessed One having thus spoken, the Sugata having thus spoken, the Teacher further spoke thus: Which monk is without pride, And diligently abides in the true Dharma, Having heard the profound Dharma, He will obtain incomparable joy. Having obtained the profound Dharma, Diligently abiding in the true Dharma, He will thoroughly proclaim this inferior, And will not rely on worldly fame. Having heard the Dharma of no-self, He will not quickly become discouraged. Like the waxing moon, His wisdom will increase. Having heard the Dharma of no-self, Whoever has no doubt, Like the waxing moon, His wisdom will increase. The Blessed One having thus spoken, those monks, and the world with gods, humans, asuras, and gandharvas, rejoiced in what the Blessed One had said and praised it exceedingly. The Great Vehicle Sutra "The Tathagata's Debate" is complete. Translated by the Indian Abbot Jñana Garbha and the translator Pandit Palgyi Yang, and revised and finalized by the great translator Pandit Pal Tsek. Great Vehicle Sutra "The Tathagata's Conduct".
