Merely by this, one will accomplish a single pore of the Tathagata. Then, the venerable Mahāmaudgalyāyana said this to the Blessed One: "Blessed One, my teacher is so great in miraculous power, so renowned for greatness, and so powerful that I have indeed gained a great benefit. However, I am still inferior to this kind of unobstructed wisdom that follows all causes. Blessed One, having heard of this miracle of transformation by the Buddha, the Tathagata, even those sentient beings who generate the mind of enlightenment once have gained a great benefit. What need is there to mention those who are pleased to believe and have faith, and who generate the mind of unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment in order to perfect such miraculous powers and wisdom? Those sentient beings are worthy of reverence in the world, including the gods. "The Buddha said: "Son of Maudgalyāyana, it is indeed so. Just as you say, those sentient beings who have faith in the qualities of the Tathagata have indeed gained a great benefit. It should be known that they have no fear of falling into wrong paths." Then, those gods, those nāgas, those Indra, and those Brahmās, having heard from the Blessed One this miracle of transformation by the Buddha, unanimously paid homage to the Buddhas, the Blessed Ones. They also paid homage to those sentient beings who have generated or will generate the mind of enlightenment in order to perfect such wisdom. "Just as the Tathagata now manifests transformations, so too will they manifest transformations. Therefore, we should not have doubts, hesitations, or uncertainties about this," they specially expressed their praise. Then, those gods, nāgas, yakshas, gandharvas, Indras, and Brahmās, in order to make offerings to the Blessed One and to respect this Dharma teaching, produced the sound of a million musical instruments. 莲花和白莲花彻底洒遍了三十三种天界的所有处所。当宣说这个法门时，先前没有发起无上正等觉之心的七十二万俱胝天神发起了菩提心，他们说道：如同现在如来宣说狮子吼一样，我们也愿在未来于天人世间前宣说无上的狮子吼。之后，天子月亮和月亮胜向世尊禀告道：世尊，善男子或善女子，凡是受持、背诵、读诵、精通这个法门，并为他人广为如实宣说，会产生多少福德呢？他们这样禀告后，世尊对天子月亮和月亮胜说道：天子们，凡是善男子或善女子，自己受持这个法门，也为他人宣说，那就是为了不中断三宝的传承而进入正道。那是什么原因呢？天子，像这样，听到这个法门，就不会发起声闻之心或独觉之心，而是仅仅发起无上正等觉之心。那是什么原因呢？天子，对广大的法有信心，根器敏锐，先前对诸佛做了殊胜供养的人，才会对这个法门生起欢喜心，对小法有信心的人则不是这样。天子，通过这个法门，凡是受持和读诵这个法门的人，要知道他们是为了不中断三宝的传承而安住。天子，你认为如何？凡是为了不中断三宝的传承而安住的人，即使有十万个佛陀住世一劫的时间，也无法宣说或讲述完他的赞叹或福德的边际。禀告道：世尊，不是这样的。世尊说道：天子，通过这个法门，凡是法门

Kumuuda and white lotuses were thoroughly scattered throughout all the abodes of the thirty-three heavens. When this Dharma discourse was taught, seventy-two trillion gods who had not previously generated the mind of unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment generated the mind, saying, "Just as the Tathagata now proclaims the lion's roar, so may we also proclaim the unsurpassed lion's roar in the future before the world with its gods." Then, the gods Chandra and Chandra-uttama said to the Blessed One, "Blessed One, how much merit will a son or daughter of good family generate who holds, bears, recites, fully understands this Dharma discourse, and also extensively and accurately teaches it to others?" After they said this, the Blessed One said to the gods Chandra and Chandra-uttama, "Gods, a son or daughter of good family who holds this Dharma discourse himself and also teaches it to others has entered the path for the sake of not cutting off the lineage of the Three Jewels. Why is that? Gods, like this, upon hearing this Dharma discourse, one will not generate the mind of a Hearer or a Solitary Buddha, but will generate the mind solely for unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment. Why is that? Gods, those who have faith in the vast, have sharp faculties, and have performed superior deeds for the previous Buddhas will develop joy in this Dharma discourse, but those who have faith in the small will not be so. Gods, through this discourse, those who hold and recite this Dharma discourse should be understood as abiding for the sake of not cutting off the lineage of the Three Jewels. Gods, what do you think? The limit of the praise or the limit of the merit of one who abides for the sake of not cutting off the lineage of the Three Jewels cannot be shown or spoken of even by a hundred thousand Buddhas residing for an eon." If I hold this, or proclaim it to others, the wise should know it will generate immeasurable merit. Then, the Bodhisattva Maitreya asked the Blessed One thus: Blessed One, what is the name of this Dharma discourse? How should it be received? The Blessed One said: Maitreya, therefore, you should receive this Dharma discourse as the chapter of the Thirty-three. You should also receive it as the miraculous transformations manifested by the Buddha's miraculous power. After the Blessed One had spoken thus, the gods Chandra and Chandrottama, and the Bodhisattva Mahasattva Maitreya, and the venerable Mahāmaudgalyāyana, and those Brahmās, and those Indras, and the gods, humans, asuras, and the world with gandharvas rejoiced and highly praised what the Blessed One had said. The Mahayana Sutra called "The Noble Chapter of the Thirty-three" is completed. Translated, revised and finalized by the Indian Abbot Prajñāvarman and the reviser translator, the monk Yeshe De, and others. "The Noble Chapter of the Thirty-three," called the Mahayana Sutra.
