Then what becomes the state of the Arhats? Arhats are not distinguished by name and form. Ordinary individuals each discriminate name and form. Arhats know that name and form are without discrimination and without distinction. Therefore, Arhats are not distinguished by name and form. They do not fixate on ordinary people, nor on the dharma of ordinary people, nor on Arhats, nor on the dharma of Arhats. When there is no fixation, there is no discrimination. There is no universal conduct. That is without conduct, without elaboration, and is peaceful. One does not affirm 'it exists,' one does not affirm 'it does not exist,' one does not affirm 'it both exists and does not exist,' nor does one affirm 'it is neither existent nor non-existent.' When there is no affirmation, there is no fixation. Because it is free from all fixation, it is without mind and detached from mind, abiding in the dharma of a renunciate in a manner of having no place to abide. Then, when Manjushri, become a youth, taught this teaching, five hundred monks from that assembly rose from their seats and said, 'Do not look at Manjushri, become a youth. Do not listen to Manjushri, become a youth. Whatever direction Manjushri, become a youth, dwells in, that direction should also be abandoned.' Why is that? Because Manjushri, become a youth, even though being an obvious teacher, teaches that defilement and purification are of one nature, therefore he speaks what is not dharma.' They also thought, 'How can we practice pure conduct in the Dharma and Vinaya well-spoken by the Blessed One?' Then they departed. Then, the Venerable Shariputra said this to Manjushri, become a youth: 'Manjushri, do you not teach the Dharma in order to enable all sentient beings to understand all dharmas?' Manjushri said, 'Venerable Shariputra, it is so.' Shariputra said, 'Those five hundred monks rose from their seats, reviled, insulted, spoke unpleasant words, and departed.' Manjushri said, 'Venerable Shariputra, for what reason did those five hundred monks say this: 'Manjushri, become a youth'

Do not look at his transformation. Do not listen to the teachings of Manjushri Kumara The place where Manjushri Kumara (འཇམ་དཔལ་གཞོན་ནུར་གྱུར་པ་) resides, that place should also be abandoned. Saying this is good, good! Shariputra (ཤཱ་རིའི་བུ་)! The words of those monks are well spoken. Why is that? Because Manjushri Kumara (འཇམ་དཔལ་གཞོན་ནུར་གྱུར་པ་) is not real, he is unattainable. Whatever is not real and unattainable cannot be seen or heard. The direction in which Manjushri Kumara (འཇམ་དཔལ་གཞོན་ནུར་གྱུར་པ་) resides, that direction should also be abandoned. Why is that? Because Manjushri Kumara (འཇམ་དཔལ་གཞོན་ནུར་གྱུར་པ་) is not real, he is unattainable, therefore his abode is also not real, it is unattainable. Whatever is not real and unattainable should not be relied upon. Then, those five hundred monks, having heard this teaching of Manjushri Kumara (འཇམ་དཔལ་གཞོན་ནུར་གྱུར་པ་), returned to that place and said to Manjushri Kumara (འཇམ་དཔལ་གཞོན་ནུར་གྱུར་པ་): Manjushri (འཇམ་དཔལ་)! We do not understand as you have taught. Manjushri (འཇམ་དཔལ་) said: Monks! Good, good! Such is the conduct of the Shravakas of the Teacher. Monks! There is nothing to be fully known in this, nothing to be completely understood. Why is that? Because this Dharmadhatu abides in a state of non-abiding. Whatever is the Dharmadhatu is not a realm. It is not real, it is unattainable, unmoving, and without death or transmigration. Whatever is unmoving and without death or transmigration is not to be fully known, nor to be completely understood. Whoever is without the conceit of fully knowing and completely understanding is called a Shravaka of the Teacher, called one who has attained excellence, called the chief, called the place of offering. When this teaching was spoken, four hundred of those five hundred monks, without any attachment, had their minds completely liberated from the defilements. One hundred monks, their minds greatly disturbed, fell with their bodies into the great wailing hell. Then, the venerable Shariputra (ཤཱ་རིའི་བུ་) said to Manjushri Kumara (འཇམ་དཔལ་གཞོན་ནུར་གྱུར་པ་): Manjushri (འཇམ་དཔལ་)! Because you do not teach the Dharma that protects sentient beings, those one hundred monks
