Desire. Request. O Bhagavan, I, the Bodhisattva, the supreme of sentient beings. Great sentient being. Noble person. For the sake of sentient beings who sport like lions, I request the Tathagata. O Bhagavan, guide of the world. Undefiled by the things of the world. Whose conduct and intention are perfectly pure. Who truly engages in beneficial things. Who, without being asked, acts as a virtuous friend to all sentient beings. Who truly engages in the power of the ten strengths. Who truly destroys the speech of the assembly of evil ones. Who has conquered the demons and adversaries. Whose mind is not timid. Who has donned the armor of steadfast diligence. Whose mind is not weary. Who has accumulated countless collections of virtuous roots. Who is not satisfied with discipline and learning. Whose mind is equal towards all sentient beings. Who is free from the perception of difference. Who is free from the two extreme views. Who is skilled in knowing how to enter into dependent origination. Who has deeply entered into the profound Dharma of the Buddha. Who is profound and difficult to fathom. Who is free from the mental activity of Hearers and Solitary Buddhas. Who does not abandon the mind of omniscience. Whose intention is as firm as a diamond and does not turn back. Whose intelligence is like the moon, without stain and exceedingly white. Whose mind is equal to the expanse of the sky. Who holds on without weariness for countless eons. Whose mind is equal to earth, water, fire, and wind. Who has completely cut off all harmful thoughts, contempt, hatred, pride, arrogance, and conceit. Who has made great aspirations for emptiness, signlessness, and wishlessness. Who has deeply entered into the nature of phenomena, which is like illusion, dreams, cataracts, cities of gandharvas, mirages, and reflections of the moon in water. Who upholds the lineage of the Buddha, Dharma, and Sangha. Who greatly rejoices and is exceedingly delighted and joyful in turning the wheel of Dharma, which is exceedingly rare to appear, like the flower of the Udumbara. For the sake of sentient beings who are single-mindedly attentive, whose attention is unmixed, and who possess all excellent qualities, I request the Tathagata. O Bhagavan, Bodhisattva, great Bodhisattva.

And also those who have entered into the particularly superior Dharma, and for the sake of sentient beings, I request the Thus-Gone-One: Please, Bhagavan, explain to the Bodhisattva-Mahasattvas how to sport with Dharma, enter into diamond-like qualities, and enter into the mandala of profound conduct and the gate of dharanis. In order to tame the Hearers, enter into not abandoning the Four Truths, enter into the gate of wisdom. In order to tame the Solitary Buddhas, enter into the Dharma of Dependent Arising, enter into the gate of wisdom. In order to tame the Mahayanists, enter into all Dharmas, enter into the gate of wisdom. Subduing the hosts of demons, destroying all views, being separated from all afflictions, thoroughly knowing the mental conduct of all sentient beings, entering into individual perfect knowledge, thoroughly showing all Dharmas, liberating from the Dharma as desired, for the sake of benefiting those Bodhisattvas, please, Bhagavan, the Thus-Gone-One, the Arhat, the Perfectly Complete Buddha, speak. Bhagavan, how do Bodhisattvas, by destroying pride, arrogance, and conceit, become those with the power of wisdom? How, by relying on the ripening of karma, do they become those with the power of Dharma? How, by not being stingy with worldly possessions and the giving of Dharma, do they become those with the power of giving? How do they, without expecting ripening, completely give away all possessions? How, by perfectly proceeding with aspirations and completely cutting off all bad destinies, do they become those with the power of morality? How, by having the nature of enduring all hatred of sentient beings, do they become those with the power of patience? How, by not regarding body and life, do they become those with the power of diligence? How, by abiding in perfect peace and also being skilled in emerging from meditation, do they become those with the power of meditation? How, by being separated from sinful views and being separated from the darkness of ignorance and delusion, do they become those with the power of wisdom? How, for the matter of maturing sentient beings, by seeking the armor of maturation, do they become those with the power of means?
