The Noble Sāgara Nāgarāja Paripṛcchā, called the Mahāyāna Sūtra. The Noble Sāgara Nāgarāja Paripṛcchā, called the Mahāyāna Sūtra. Then, the Blessed One addressed all those Bodhisattvas, saying: Noble sons, in order to ensure that the Tathāgata's Bodhi remains for a long time, you should uphold this Sūtra. Which of you is willing to uphold such a Sūtra as this? Then, twenty thousand Bodhisattvas and ten thousand sons of gods rose from their seats and, bowing with their palms joined towards the Blessed One, said to the Blessed One: Blessed One, we wish to uphold such a Sūtra as this, and we will also expand upon it. The Blessed One said: Sons of good family, how do you practice the Dharma so that you uphold this Tathāgata's Bodhi? Then, the Bodhisattva named Jñānadhvaja said to the Blessed One: Blessed One, if I wish to uphold the Holy Dharma, is that upholding the Tathāgata's Bodhi? The Blessed One said: Son of good family, if you practice in that way, it is indeed upholding the Tathāgata's Bodhi. The Bodhisattva Samadarśana inquired: Blessed One, if I see Bodhi as equality with the equality of that which has no limits, is that upholding the Tathāgata's Bodhi? The Blessed One said: Son of good family, if you practice in that way, it is indeed upholding my Bodhi. The Bodhisattva Anupalabdha inquired: Blessed One, if I do not even see the Dharmas of ordinary beings, nor do I see the Dharmas of those in training, those beyond training, Pratyekabuddhas, Bodhisattvas, or Buddhas, is that upholding the Tathāgata's Bodhi? The Blessed One said: Son of good family, that is indeed so. The Bodhisattva, abiding utterly without claiming anything about all Dharmas, inquired: Blessed One, if I do not know anything about the nature of Dharmas and do not grasp at them, is that upholding the Holy Dharma?
