Then, the Bhagavan, grass and straw are of the nature to be burned, and cannot withstand being burned by fire. The Bhagavan said: "Ocean of Intelligence, just as a person who wears a vajra armor will not be burned even if he goes into the fire, so too, a Bodhisattva who wears the armor of great loving-kindness and compassion, and the vajra armor of firm superior intention, abides in the aim of completely liberating sentient beings. For all dharmas, emptiness (སྟོང་པ་ཉིད།,梵文:śūnyatā,梵文罗马拟音:shunyata,汉语字面意思:emptiness), signlessness (མཚན་མ་མེད་པ།,梵文:animitta,梵文罗马拟音:animitta,汉语字面意思:signlessness), wishlessness (སྨོན་པ་མེད་པ།,梵文:apraṇihita,梵文罗马拟音:apranihita,汉语字面意思:wishlessness), non-fabrication (མངོན་པར་འདུ་མི་བྱེད་པ།,梵文:anabhisaṃskāra,梵文罗马拟音:anabhisaṃskara,汉语字面意思:non-fabrication), unarisenness (མ་སྐྱེས་པ།,梵文:anutpāda,梵文罗马拟音:anutpada,汉语字面意思:unarisenness) and unoriginatedness, having realized these, also let go, and enter into the samadhi of peace, and also do not enter into the certainty of the Hearers and Solitary Buddhas, and also do not strive to obtain the fruit, but experience and conquer that samadhi, and rise without degenerating or diminishing. Having risen, also purify the Buddha-fields, and perfect the Buddha's wisdom. Ocean of Intelligence, just as a person who wears an armor of grass and straw will be burned by the fire as soon as he jumps in, so too, Ocean of Intelligence, a person of the Hearer's vehicle, fearing samsara, sees existence as constantly burning, and thus abandons sentient beings, and being separated from great compassion, touches the samadhi of peace, but cannot abide, and has no opportunity, and rising without obtaining the eighth fruit, that is impossible. Why is that? Because the Hearers have not accumulated the accumulations of merit and wisdom. The Bodhisattva has accumulated immeasurable accumulations of merit and wisdom, therefore, until all the Buddha-dharmas are perfected, even in the interim, he does not directly realize the ultimate reality. Ocean of Intelligence, therefore, the Bodhisattva should generate the perception of all dharmas as emptiness (སྟོང་པ་ཉིད།,梵文:śūnyatā,梵文罗马拟音:shunyata,汉语字面意思:emptiness), signlessness (མཚན་མ་མེད་པ།,梵文:animitta,梵文罗马拟音:animitta,汉语字面意思:signlessness), wishlessness (སྨོན་པ་མེད་པ།,梵文:apraṇihita,梵文罗马拟音:apranihita,汉语字面意思:wishlessness), non-fabrication (མངོན་པར་འདུ་བྱ་བ་མེད་པ།,梵文:anabhisaṃskāra,梵文罗马拟音:anabhisaṃskara,汉语字面意思:non-fabrication), unarisenness (མ་སྐྱེས་པ།,梵文:anutpāda,梵文罗马拟音:anutpada,汉语字面意思:unarisenness) and unoriginatedness, as if they were burning fire, and should also separately examine those dharmas. For knowing those dharmas, one should also analyze them, but also not directly realize the ultimate reality. Ocean of Intelligence, therefore, the Bodhisattva should be skilled in dedicating completely."

O Ocean of Wisdom, the Bodhisattva who is skilled in dedicating merit also practices the profound Dharma, but does not directly realize the ultimate limit of reality in the interim. O Ocean of Wisdom, what is meant by "dedication"? It means to direct one's mind, aspiration, manifest inclination, and complete inclination solely towards the Great Vehicle, and not towards any other vehicle. Therefore, it is called "dedication." O Ocean of Wisdom, it is like this: if a potter places a lump of clay on a wheel but does not spin it, it does not acquire the name of a vessel, but is counted as a lump of clay. When it is spun, it acquires the name of a vessel. O Ocean of Wisdom, similarly, even if a Bodhisattva accumulates a vast amount of virtuous roots, if they are not dedicated to omniscience, they do not acquire the name of "perfection." When they are dedicated to omniscience, they acquire the name of "perfection." O Ocean of Wisdom, it is like this: if a ball of gold dust is not fashioned into an ornament, it does not acquire the name of an ornament, but is counted as a ball of gold. When it is fashioned, it acquires the name of an ornament. O Ocean of Wisdom, similarly, if the virtuous roots of a Bodhisattva are not dedicated, they do not acquire the name of "perfection." When they are dedicated, they acquire the name of "perfection." O Ocean of Wisdom, therefore, a Bodhisattva should always, with a mind free from contamination, accumulate virtuous roots that have been accumulated, and dedicate them all to omniscience. The Bodhisattva who has dedicated to omniscience also practices the profound Dharma, but does not directly realize the ultimate limit of reality in the interim. This is called the chapter on dedication, the ninth. Ninth, Chapter on Dedication.
