Where will it not change? If one clings to "I" and clings to "mine," one will be afraid; if one is free from clinging to "I" and clinging to "mine," one will not be afraid. It is said, with what power do Bodhisattvas not fear the profound Dharma of the Buddhas? What is the power of the Bodhisattvas? It is said, Brahma, the power of the Bodhisattvas is these eight. Possessing these powers, Bodhisattvas will not fear the profound Dharma of the Buddhas. What are the eight? They are as follows: The power of unwavering faith, arising from devotion to all the Buddha's teachings; the power of a virtuous friend, arising from reverence with a mind equal to the teacher; the power of wisdom, arising from hearing, which perfects the Dharma that transcends the world; the power of veneration, arising from merit, which perfects immeasurable merit; the power of wisdom, arising from proper attention, for the sake of certainly destroying all demons; the power of great compassion, arising from great love, because there is no doubt about the selflessness of all phenomena; the power of mind, arising from certain mindfulness, because the mind of enlightenment is never forgotten; and the power of patience, arising from not relying on others, because perfect patience is obtained for the Dharma of non-arising. Brahma, these eight are the powers of the Bodhisattvas. Possessing these powers, Bodhisattvas will not fear the profound Dharma of the Buddhas. Then, the Bhagavan praised the Bodhisattva Ocean of Intelligence, saying: Ocean of Intelligence, you have well explained the powers of the Bodhisattvas. Well done, well done! There is no Dharma of the Buddhas that a Bodhisattva with such power would hear and be afraid of. All those sounds taught by Ocean of Intelligence are terrifying. The ultimate meaning of enlightenment, that too cannot be expressed. Why is that? That which is inexpressible is that which cannot be described. For that, all letters do not

Therefore, since minds and mental factors do not pervade everywhere, what need is there to mention that letters pervade everywhere? Thus, even if one attains complete enlightenment of such profound Dharma, which is without letters, unspeakable, inexpressible, and unutterable, one still uses the knowledge of letters to teach other sentient beings and other individuals. Observe how the great compassion of the Buddhas, the Bhagavat, turns towards countless sentient beings. Ocean of Wisdom, for example, if someone were to paint various colors on the sky, which is formless, unmanifest, unobstructed, and without consciousness, and depict horses, elephants, chariots, infantry, and vehicles, or display the forms of gods, nagas, yakshas, and gandharvas here, Ocean of Wisdom, what do you think? Is that person not doing something difficult? He said: "Lord, it is difficult. Sugata, it is extremely difficult." The Lord said: "Ocean of Wisdom, those Buddhas, the Bhagavat, having attained complete enlightenment of the unspeakable Dharma, and then making other sentient beings and other individuals aware and understand the unspeakable meaning through speech, that is even more difficult. Those who are not afraid, not terrified, and not alarmed by these profound Buddhist teachings, that is even more extremely difficult. Ocean of Wisdom, those sentient beings who do not become afraid of these profound Buddhist teachings, they have generated roots of virtue and have served and honored the Buddhas of the past. Ocean of Wisdom, those who know, hold, and receive these profound sutras, which are uncommon to all the world, and who also extensively and correctly reveal them to others, they are the holders of the treasury of the Tathagata's Dharma, and they are also the holders of the virtuous qualities of all sentient beings. Ocean of Wisdom, if a Bodhisattva were to fill all the immeasurable Buddha-fields seen by the Buddha's eye with all kinds of jewels,

After being completely filled, if one offers alms for the purpose of making offerings to the Tathagata, what do you think, Ocean of Intelligence? Does that Bodhisattva accumulate more merit than that foundation? Please answer, O Bhagavan, the Sugata is immeasurable. That accumulation of merit, just as it is difficult to compare, that accumulation of merit will also become immeasurable. The Bhagavan said: Ocean of Intelligence, you should believe, you should understand. In order to protect the teachings of the Tathagata, and in order not to cut off the lineage of the Three Jewels, having generated great compassion for all sentient beings, if a Bodhisattva who understands that a profound sutra like this is the method for accomplishing the wisdom of the Tathagata, and who upholds, recites, and completely understands it, then he will accumulate even more merit. If one truly practices it, what need is there to mention it? What is the reason for that? Ocean of Intelligence, all material giving relies on the world, but this Dharma giving will far surpass all worlds. Ocean of Intelligence, completely upholding the sacred Dharma, one will obtain four complete kinds of being taken care of, what are the four? They are obtaining the complete care of the Buddha, as well as obtaining the care of the gods, obtaining the care of merit, and obtaining the care of wisdom. Ocean of Intelligence, a Bodhisattva who is completely taken care of by the Buddha has four special qualities, what are the four? They are being able to see the Tathagata and not be separated, all demons will not be able to find his flaws, because he has obtained the dharani and it is inexhaustible, and he will be able to quickly obtain supernatural powers and attain the stage of non-retrogression. Ocean of Intelligence, these are the four special qualities of a Bodhisattva who is completely taken care of by the Buddha. Ocean of Intelligence, a Bodhisattva who is completely taken care of by the gods will become pure, there are four kinds of purity, what are the four? They are that the gods will purify the mandala of his retinue, and will listen to the Dharma with one-pointed mind.
