In Tibetan: The Sutra Called 'Noble Great Vehicle Faith Excellent Practice,' a Great Vehicle Sutra. Volume 1. Homage to all Buddhas and Bodhisattvas! Thus have I heard: At one time, the Blessed One was dwelling in Rajagriha on Vulture Peak Mountain, together with a great Sangha of Bodhisattvas gathered from various Buddha-fields. All of them had conquered the Maras and Outsiders, were far removed from the habitual tendencies of all afflictions and near afflictions, had attained the great position of power to manifest rebirth in existence at will, had attained the power to relinquish body and abode for immeasurable eons, thoroughly understood all the immeasurable deeds and hindrances of the Maras, knew the methods for accomplishing all the purposes of all sentient beings, had attained the great power of knowing all definitive emergences, were skilled in refuting all the speech of the Tirthikas, were skilled in gathering a great multitude of ordinary people through great miraculous transformations, had attained all perfect great yogas through cultivating the great Paramitas, and whose minds were utterly unstained by worldly dharmas, like the sky. 菩萨信解殊胜者，菩萨信解增长者，菩萨信解调伏者，菩萨信器圆满寻觅者，菩萨摩诃萨信解大方便者等五千菩萨，以及大迦叶等一千二百五十比丘，一同安住。世尊为天、龙、夜叉、乾闼婆、阿修罗、迦楼罗、紧那罗、摩睺罗伽、人与非人等无量众生所围绕，并在百千眷属之中安住。当时，该集会中有许多初学菩萨，安住于胜解行地。之后，世尊从那些安住于胜解行地的初学菩萨开始，展开了谈论。善男子们，如果菩萨对大乘的信心越大，那么利益就越大，果报就越大，功德也越大。因此，进入胜解行的初学菩萨，应当以对大乘的信心而安住。之后，菩萨信解大方便者，以佛陀的威力与佛陀的加持，从座位上站起，将袈裟披于一肩，右膝着地，向世尊所在的方向合掌，向世尊禀告道：世尊，菩萨们为了大乘，对大乘的信心的特征是什么？菩萨们为了大乘，对大乘的信心生起是什么？世尊，菩萨们为了大乘，对大乘的信心的殊胜差别有多少种？菩萨们为了大乘，对大乘的信心的利益有多少种？世尊开示道：善男子，你为了无量菩萨的利益而提问，如来。

The Bodhisattva who firmly establishes faith, the Bodhisattva who increases faith, the Bodhisattva who subdues faith, the Bodhisattva who fully seeks the vessel of faith, the Bodhisattva Mahasattva who has great skillful means of faith, and so on, five thousand Bodhisattvas, and the great Kashyapa and so on, twelve hundred and fifty monks, were dwelling together. The Blessed One was surrounded and attended by immeasurable beings such as gods, nagas, yakshas, gandharvas, asuras, garudas, kinnaras, mahoragas, humans, and non-humans, and was dwelling in the midst of hundreds of thousands of retinues. At that time, many newly trained Bodhisattvas abiding in the stage of practice through aspiration were assembled in that gathering. Then, the Blessed One began to discourse, starting with those newly trained Bodhisattvas abiding in the stage of practice through aspiration. "Noble sons, if a Bodhisattva has great faith in the Great Vehicle for the sake of the Great Vehicle, then it is of great purpose, great fruit, and great benefit. Therefore, a Bodhisattva who has entered the stage of practice through aspiration should abide greatly in faith in the Great Vehicle." Then, the Bodhisattva Great Skillful Means of Faith, by the power of the Buddha and the blessing of the Buddha, rose from his seat, draped his upper robe over one shoulder, placed his right knee on the ground, and bowed with his palms joined towards the Blessed One, and said to the Blessed One: "Blessed One, what is to be known as the characteristic of faith in the Great Vehicle for the sake of the Great Vehicle of the Bodhisattvas? What is the arising of faith in the Great Vehicle for the sake of the Great Vehicle of the Bodhisattvas? Blessed One, how many kinds of excellent distinctions are there of faith in the Great Vehicle for the sake of the Great Vehicle of the Bodhisattvas? How many kinds of benefits are there of faith in the Great Vehicle for the sake of the Great Vehicle of the Bodhisattvas?" The Blessed One said: "Noble son, you have inquired for the sake of the benefit of immeasurable Bodhisattvas, the Thus Come One."
