And, harboring hatred towards friends, generating malicious thoughts, teachers and students alike finding fault with each other, speaking sarcastically and exaggeratingly, like many mosquitoes gathering together, armies and factions among themselves hurling insults, without any distinction between superiors and inferiors, like untamed savages, not performing virtuous deeds but plundering and looting, craving profit and fame, to the point of not understanding the Dharma, the twelve categories of scriptures also become obscured, reading and reciting cease to exist, my disciples also learn and practice non-Dharmic activities such as heretical teachings, worldly sciences, writing, play, riding, Bon teachings, divination, singing and dancing, assemblies, expulsions, archery, horse racing, and so on. By practicing such unwholesome practices, immediately after death they fall into the lower realms, experiencing countless eons of suffering in the lower realms, and after being liberated from there, they are reborn as animals, suffering from hunger, thirst, and torment, carrying heavy burdens and walking. Later, the merits of learning also become mostly non-Dharmic, not dwelling in mountains, gardens, cemeteries, or under trees, but always running to villages. With many thoughts in their minds, seeking profit and fame, craving wealth and enjoyment, not knowing contentment, even if there are preachers of the Dharma, only one in a thousand truly teaches the Buddha's Dharma, wandering in villages with many attendants, entering the homes of householders, and teaching the Dharma to householders for the sake of profit and fame, craving more enjoyment, like butchers. Those who do not consume meat and alcohol will rebuke the monks, saying: You monks, having renounced your homes, yet have no compassion, practicing so many non-Dharmic things, you are like butchers, thus scolding and prohibiting them. Hearing these words, those monks turn around and beat, insult, and prohibit them, saying to each other: When the Tathagata was alive, we did not eat meat and alcohol.

Do not drink! Now that I, the Tathagata, have passed into Nirvana, now whatever we do, we will drink meat and alcohol! Among the renunciants, they recognize each other, saying it is as if the Buddha spoke, and some speak in jest, meaningless words, contentious words, and confusing words. For example, a blind man points two fingers at the sun and says, 'This sun's light is small!' 'It's wide!' 'It's narrow!' Or like a deaf man saying, 'I heard the sound of Dharma being preached in the sky.' Similarly, many blind people gather together, and in the world, there are emanations of Manjushri and Mahakashyapa, etc. Even if they dwell among them, everyone beats and scolds them, then drives them away and does not let them stay. Furthermore, for example, a lion dwells on Fragrant Mountain, and no deer or wild beasts can approach that place. After the lion leaves that mountain, fierce and cruel beasts call out to each other, come to Fragrant Mountain to eat delicious fruits and drink spring water. As a result of such eating and drinking, everything dries up and disappears, and the gods dwelling on Fragrant Mountain cannot save them either. Poisonous grass grows, and as soon as they eat it, they die. After I pass into Nirvana, all the monks, when reciting and reading the twelve scriptures I have taught, will put the upper ones in the middle, the middle ones at the bottom, the bottom ones at the top, and the middle ones at the bottom and the end. They will say that what is not meaningful is meaningful, and that what is meaningful is not meaningful, just as the heretics each say that their own teachings are the truth. At that time, although the twelve scriptures circulate in the world, they will have no splendor or power. Even if some recite or read them, not a single person will attain the four fruits of a Shramana. Thus, my disciples will be like a king who has lost his throne, or a bird without wings, and the monasteries and stupas will be empty and unmaintained. Thus, the Buddha images, banners, and jeweled umbrellas, etc., will be like the enemy's weapons being broken, and the pigeons and

It will become the nests and dwellings of jackals, pigs, dogs, sheep, and so on. The places where the monks reside individually should be well cleaned. The Blessed One said to Ananda: 'This is just a brief explanation for you.' Ananda, having heard the Buddha's words, shed tears and wept. Thus, Ananda was heartbroken and wept incessantly. The Blessed One said to Ananda: 'Do not weep like that, but hold this sutra as a dharani and spread it widely in the world.' Then Ananda wiped the tears from his face and said to the Blessed One: 'I have received the dharani.' Thus he reported. Indra, the gods, and humans also said to Ananda: 'Reverend, we have also fully received it. Whoever recites or reads this sutra on a mountain peak, in a garden, under a tree, in a border area, or in a cemetery, we will go to that place with retinues of gods and humans, as well as non-humans, and even a small verse or a single word, we will not forget, we will receive it without omission.' Thus they reported. When this sutra was spoken, thousands of monks attained the four fruits of a renunciate. Fifteen hundred nuns attained the fruit of stream-entry. Five hundred lay devotees became completely purified, were prostrated to by gods, humans, and non-gods, and then returned. The Noble Supreme Samadhi is complete. May there be auspiciousness! May all the worlds be well! The Tathagata has declared the cause of those dharmas which arise from a cause, and also their cessation; thus speaks the Great Ascetic. , Sanskrit Romanization: ye dharmā hetuprabhavā hetuṃ teṣāṃ tathāgato hyavadat, teṣāṃ ca yo nirodha evaṃ vādī mahāśramaṇaḥ, Literal Chinese Meaning: All dharmas arise from causes, the Tathagata speaks of their cause, and also their cessation; thus speaks the Great Ascetic.)
