Having obtained, they are not diligent in yoga day and night, they do not condemn the path of sin. Body and mind are not well subdued, they speak incoherently, saying anything. Who has committed what crime, has transgressed, they say thus. They constantly seek and observe the faults of others. Children are attached to food, they do not know moderation in food. Although they obtain food through the merit of the Buddha, children do not repay the kindness done. Having obtained delicious and palatable food, they do not strive in yoga, but eat and drink. That food turns into poison for them. Like a young yak calf not washing the roots of grass. Those who are wise and understand, possessing intelligence, although they eat excellent and pure food, they do not become attached to it. They eat without attachment and strive in yoga. Those who are wise and understand, possessing intelligence, say thus: From where does the child come well? Thus, they kindly advise with pleasant words, placing compassion in their hearts. To the child, whatever is beneficial is loving, if he suffers harm, the child rejoices. Because of such faults, completely abandoning children, they live alone in a solitary place like a wild animal. Having realized such faults, the wise think, if I rely on those of shallow wisdom, I will lose the heavenly realms, when will I attain Bodhi? Thinking thus, they never rely on the company of children. The wise abide in loving-kindness, abide in compassion, rejoice in practice, and constantly maintain equanimity towards all beings, meditating on samadhi, they will attain Bodhi. They realize through the sorrowless, peaceful Bodhi, and knowing that beings are afflicted by old age and disease, they place great compassion in their hearts, and speak words that possess true meaning. Who can know the inexpressible Dharma-nature of the Victorious Ones, and the truth of the Sugatas? Having heard such Dharma, they obtain the patience of the noble ones, free from defilements. The ninth chapter, the Patience of the Profound Dharma, is complete. Ninth, The Chapter on Patience in the Profound Dharma.
