The Noble Great Vehicle Sutra Called "The Edge of the Jewel". The Noble Great Vehicle Sutra Called "The Edge of the Jewel". In Indian language: Ārya Ratna-koṭi-nāma Mahāyāna Sūtra. In Tibetan: The Noble Great Vehicle Sutra Called "The Edge of the Jewel". Homage to all Buddhas and Bodhisattvas! Thus I have heard. Once, the Blessed One was dwelling in Rājagṛha on Vulture Peak Mountain, together with a great Saṅgha of five hundred fully ordained monks. Then, Mañjuśrī, become a youth, in the evening went to where the Blessed One's dwelling was, and having arrived, stood at the door of the dwelling, waiting for the Blessed One. At that time, the Blessed One was absorbed in the Samādhi called "The Edge of the Jewel." Then, the Blessed One, with mindfulness and awareness, arose from that Samādhi and saw Mañjuśrī, become a youth, standing at the door. Having seen him, he said, "Mañjuśrī, come inside." Mañjuśrī, become a youth, replied, "Blessed One, very well, very well." Mañjuśrī, become a youth, having heard the Blessed One's instruction, went to where the Blessed One was, and having arrived, bowed his head at the feet of the Blessed One, and stood to one side. As Mañjuśrī, become a youth, was standing to one side, the Blessed One granted him permission to sit on a seat. Having been granted permission by the Blessed One, then Mañjuśrī, become a youth, went to the other side of where the Blessed One was, folded his palms respectfully, and sat to one side. Having sat to one side, Mañjuśrī, become a youth, said to the Blessed One, "Blessed One, from which Samādhi have you just now arisen?" Having said this, the Blessed One said to Mañjuśrī, become a youth, "Mañjuśrī, there is a Samādhi called 'The Edge of the Jewel.' I have just now arisen from abiding in that Samādhi." He asked, "Blessed One, why is it called 'The Edge of the Jewel'?" The Blessed One replied, "Mañjuśrī, it is like this: for example, a jewel is very pure and very bright...

If placed properly on a flat surface, wherever it is placed, that place will be filled with countless jewels. Manjushri, similarly, abiding in that samadhi, I look towards the east. Looking towards the east, I see in countless immeasurable world realms, Tathagatas, Arhats, Perfectly Awakened Buddhas teaching the Dharma and abiding. Similarly, looking towards the south, west, north, below, above, and in the ten directions, I see in countless world realms, Tathagatas, Arhats, Perfectly Awakened Buddhas teaching the Dharma and abiding. Manjushri, abiding in this samadhi, I have not truly seen any dharma that is not the limit of reality. Manjushri, I establish this mudra of the limit of reality as a mudra. If sons and daughters of good family with faith practice this mudra, they will hold unwavering courage. Question. Blessed One, I have courage. Sugata, I have courage. The Buddha said. Manjushri, you should have courage. Question. Blessed One, for example, a precious jewel, whichever side is placed down, that side of the jewel will face down and remain. Blessed One, similarly, all dharmas abide only in the limit of reality. The Buddha said. Manjushri, do you know the limit of reality? Question. Blessed One, I know. The Buddha said. Manjushri, then where is the limit of reality? Question. Blessed One, the limit of reality is where my limit exists. The limit of reality is where the dharmas of ordinary beings do not exist. The limit of reality is neither karma nor its maturation, but it is the limit of all dharmas. Blessed One, those who believe in this way are not liberated from anything. Those who are not liberated from anything are liberated from wrong views. Those who are liberated from wrong views are truly liberated. Those who are truly liberated

are those who have entered the non-domain of activity. Those who have entered the non-domain of activity are those who have truly entered. Why is that? World Honored One, what is called the non-domain of activity is what is done by the domain of activity, and for that reason it is called the non-domain of activity. The Buddha said: Manjushri, what is the synonym for what is called the non-domain of activity? He replied: World Honored One, what is called the non-domain of activity is the synonym for the edge of reality. The Buddha said: Manjushri, what is the synonym for what is called the path of cultivation? He replied: World Honored One, what is called the path of cultivation is the synonym for the absence of the path of cultivation. The Buddha said: Manjushri, How do you teach the Dharma to the sons and daughters of good families who are beginners? He replied: World Honored One, I teach the Dharma to the sons and daughters of good families who are beginners without abandoning the view of the aggregates. I teach the Dharma without abandoning desire, hatred, and delusion. Why is that? World Honored One, the nature of these dharmas cannot be abandoned. World Honored One, wanting to abandon the view of the aggregates or the arising of the view of the aggregates is abandoning the edge of reality. World Honored One, I teach the Dharma to the sons and daughters of good families who are beginners in such a way that they do not grasp or manifest the Buddha's teachings in a way that is not attached, and do not particularly observe or abandon the teachings of ordinary beings. How does the World Honored One teach the Dharma to those who are beginners? The Buddha said: Manjushri, I teach that form is without destruction and without arising. I teach that feeling, perception, formation, and consciousness are without destruction and without arising. Desire, hatred, and delusion are without destruction and without arising, and I also teach that the inconceivable dharmas are without attainment. In this way, I have not destroyed or created any dharma,
