Chapter Twenty-Five: The Preliminary Practices of King Giving Virtue Chapter Twenty-Five: The Preliminary Practices of King Giving Virtue Then the Blessed One addressed the assembly of Bodhisattvas, complete in every way: "Sons of good family, in the past, in a time long ago, countless eons ago, at that time, in that era, in the eon called 'Joyful to See,' in a world realm adorned with the light of manifold appearances, a Thus-Gone One, a Foe Destroyer, a Perfectly and Completely Awakened Buddha, endowed with knowledge and conduct, a Blissful One, Knower of the World, Tamer of Beings, Supreme, Teacher of Gods and Humans, the Buddha, the Blessed One, named 'Dragon Sound Melodious Star King All-Blooming Lotus,' appeared in the world. In the teachings of that Thus-Gone One, 'Dragon Sound Melodious Star King All-Blooming Lotus,' there was the name 'King Giving Virtue.' Sons of good family, that King Giving Virtue had a consort named Immaculate Giving. Sons of good family, that King Giving Virtue had two sons, one named Immaculate Essence, and one named Immaculate Eye. Those two boys were endowed with miraculous powers, endowed with wisdom, endowed with merit, endowed with knowledge, and they were diligent in the conduct of Bodhisattvas. Like this, they were diligent in the perfection of generosity, the perfection of ethics, the perfection of patience, the perfection of diligence, the perfection of meditation, the perfection of wisdom, the perfection of skillful means, loving-kindness, compassion, joy, equanimity, and the thirty-seven aspects of enlightenment, having reached the other shore of all. They reached the other shore of Immaculate Samadhi. They reached the other shore of the Samadhi of constellations, stars, and the sun. They reached the other shore of the Samadhi of Immaculate Light. They reached the other shore of the Samadhi of Immaculate Clear Light. They reached the other shore of the Samadhi of Heroic Ornament.

已度到彼岸。已度到光辉大精进之禅定彼岸。彼世尊亦于彼时彼刻，因怜悯彼等有情，及怜悯国王善布，而宣说此妙法莲华经之法类。诸善男子，其后，童子无垢藏与童子无垢眼，前往养育我等之母处，抵达后，合掌十指，向养育我等之母如是说道：母亲请来！为了瞻仰、礼敬、供养世尊如来应供正等觉龙音妙旋星王遍华如来，请前往世尊如来应供正等觉龙音妙旋星王遍华如来之处。为何前往？母亲，世尊如来应供正等觉龙音妙旋星王遍华如来，将在天人世界面前广为宣说妙法莲华经之法类，为了听闻而前往。诸善男子，如是说后，国王之妻无垢施，对童子无垢藏与无垢眼如是说道：诸善男子，汝等之父国王善布，因信奉婆罗门，故不允汝等前往瞻仰如来。诸善男子，其后，童子无垢藏与童子无垢眼，合掌十指，向养育我等之母如是说道：我等生于邪见之家，我等非为法王之子。诸善男子，其后，国王之妻无垢施，对彼等童子如是说道：诸善男子，汝等为怜悯我等之父国王善布，请稍稍善显神通，我等对汝等生信。

Why go? Mother, the Bhagavan Tathagata Arhat Samyaksambuddha Dragon Sound Wonderful Melody Star King All-Blooming Flower Tathagata, will extensively explain the Dharma category of the Lotus Sutra of the Good Dharma in front of the world with gods, and will go to listen to it. Sons of good family, after saying that, the king's wife Immaculate Giving, said to the boy Immaculate Essence and Immaculate Eye: Sons of good family, your father, King Good Arrangement, because he believes in Brahmins, will not allow you to go to behold the Tathagata. Sons of good family, thereafter, the boy Immaculate Essence and the boy Immaculate Eye, joined their ten fingers in a palm, and said to the mother who raised us: We were born into a house of wrong views, we are not sons of the Dharma King. If one's mind turns to faith, may the Blessed One, the Tathagata, the Arhat, the Perfectly Enlightened One, Dragon Sound, Sweet Voice, Star King, All-Blooming Flower, allow me to go to him. Sons of good family, then the boy Immaculate Essence and the boy Immaculate Eye, at that time, rose up into the sky to the height of seven talas. Out of love for their father, King Good Arrangement, they performed a pair of miracles given by the Buddha. They lay down in the sky, in the space between. They walked in that space. They shook dust in that space. In that very space, they sent forth a stream of water from the lower part of their bodies, and made a mass of fire blaze forth from the upper part of their bodies. They sent forth a stream of water from the upper part of their bodies, and made a mass of fire blaze forth from the lower part of their bodies. In that very sky, they became large and then small. Having become small, they became large. In that very space, they became invisible and arose from the earth. Having arisen from the earth, they rose into the sky. Sons of good family, with so many miraculous displays of magic, those two boys tamed their own father, King Good Arrangement. Sons of good family, then King Good Arrangement, having seen those miraculous displays of magic by the two boys, at that time, was satisfied, pleased, delighted, greatly joyful, and a feeling of happiness and contentment arose in him. He joined the palms of his ten fingers together and said to those boys, "Sons of good family, who is your teacher? Whose disciples are you?" Sons of good family, then those two boys said to King Good Arrangement, "Great King, the Blessed One, the Tathagata, the Arhat, the Perfectly Enlightened One, Dragon Sound, Sweet Voice, Star King, All-Blooming Flower, abides, lives, and dwells, sitting on a Dharma seat under a jewel tree, a Bodhi tree. In the presence of the world with gods, with demons, and with Brahma, he extensively expounds the Dharma category of the White Lotus of the Good Dharma. That Blessed One is our teacher, Great King, we are his disciples."
