Second, the chapter on skillful means. Second, the chapter on skillful means. Second fascicle. Then, the Blessed One, mindful and aware, arose from that samadhi. Having arisen, he spoke to the venerable son of Sharadvati: Shariputra, the wisdom of the Buddhas, which is realized by the Tathagatas, Arhats, Perfectly Awakened Ones, is profound, difficult to see, and difficult to understand. It is difficult for all Shravakas and Pratyekabuddhas to know. Why is that? Shariputra, the Tathagatas, Arhats, Perfectly Awakened Ones, have served and honored many billions of hundreds of thousands of millions of Buddhas, have practiced the conduct of unsurpassed perfect and complete enlightenment in many billions of hundreds of thousands of millions of Buddhas, have followed for a long time, and have exerted effort. It is in order to know the rare and wonderful dharmas, and the dharmas that are difficult to know. Shariputra, the indirect speech of the Tathagatas, Arhats, Perfectly Awakened Ones, is difficult to know. Why is that? Because they truly show the dharmas they have realized, with skillful means, and with wisdom vision, as well as with cause, basis, object, definitive words, and various kinds of expressions, in order to thoroughly explain the attachments of beings to those skillful means. Shariputra, the Tathagatas, Arhats, Perfectly Awakened Ones, are great in skillful means, and have gone beyond to the supreme shore of wisdom vision. Shariputra, the Tathagatas, Arhats, Perfectly Awakened Ones, possess unobstructed and unimpeded wisdom vision, as well as the ten powers, four fearlessnesses, eighteen unshared dharmas, five roots, five powers, seven branches of enlightenment, dhyana, eight liberations, samadhi, nine successive absorptions, and wonderful dharmas, and they truly show various kinds of dharmas. Shariputra, the Tathagatas, Arhats, Perfectly Awakened Ones, have attained great rarity. Shariputra, that is enough to say, Shari.

Shariputra, the Tathagatas, Arhats, Perfectly Awakened Buddhas are those who have attained the supreme and rare wonders. Shariputra, whatever Dharma is known by the Tathagata, that Dharma is also expounded by the Tathagata to the Tathagata himself. Shariputra, all Dharmas are shown by the Tathagata himself. All Dharmas are also known by the Tathagata himself, that is, what those Dharmas are, what those Dharmas are like, what those Dharmas resemble, what the characteristics of those Dharmas are, and what the nature of those Dharmas is, What those Dharmas are, what they are like, what they resemble, what their characteristics are, and what their nature is, are also known. Then, the Blessed One extensively showed that meaning, and at that time, these verses were spoken: In the world with gods and humans, immeasurable great heroes, guides of all sentient beings, cannot know in all ways. Their powers and liberation, and what kind of fearlessness, what are the Buddha's Dharmas like, no one can know. In hundreds of millions of Buddha lands, deep and extremely subtle, difficult to know and difficult to see, practices have been cultivated in the past. In countless millions of kalpas, practicing those practices, what is that fruit like, I saw at the Bodhi tree. He is the guide of the world, he and others, and I also, what is it like and what does it resemble, what is the characteristic of that known. That cannot be shown, that cannot be spoken. Those who dwell in faith, except for Bodhisattvas, to whom is the Dharma taught, and who also knows the teaching. There is no such sentient being in the world. Those who are the hearers who know the world, especially praised by the Sugata who has done it, the exhaustion of outflows, the holders of the last body, their realm is not in this wisdom of the Victorious One. If all those worlds were filled with those like Shariputra, even if they gathered together and thought, they could not know the wisdom of the Sugata. If wise ones like you, filled all ten directions, and any other of my hearers
