Because of having reverence for the perfectly complete Buddha, Merchant leader, with that root of virtue, that cause, that condition, when Maitreya appears in the world, merchant leader, at that time, at that time, at that time, you will go forth into the teachings of the Tathagata Maitreya. After going forth, to beings deluded by sleep, and to those who are drunk and extremely drunk, you will exhort, saying: 'Hey, beings, you should enjoy, you should strive, you should exert yourselves!' It is difficult to find the appearance of a Tathagata, Arhat, perfectly complete Buddha in the world. For example, the flower of the Udumbara tree appears one in a hundred, similarly, the Tathagatas also appear one in a hundred in the world. Having nowhere to go, attaining peace, completely liberated from suffering, the Dharma taught by the perfectly complete Buddha is also proclaimed one in a hundred. Obtaining a human body and abiding properly in a sacred place also appears one in a hundred. Abandoning the eight unfavorable conditions and obtaining such leisure and endowment is also one in a hundred, so, strive well with a cautious mind! Do not regret it later, thus exhorting them. Merchant leader, thus in the teachings of the Tathagata Maitreya, and in the Buddha-field of the Tathagata Maitreya, the King of Dharma, you will uphold and protect his teachings. The mind of loving-kindness will pervade without resentment, without competition, without fault, with benefit and happiness. Merchant leader, by that root of virtue, after the evil demon dies, in the realm of demons, you will become the master of the Great自在天, becoming a demon. Merchant leader, any beings who even generate a single thought of virtue towards the Tathagata, all those, merchant leader, by that root of virtue, will approach immortality, tend towards immortality, and ultimately reach immortality. Merchant leader, you, by that root of virtue, will experience vast human and divine perfections, and in the last life of eighty kalpas, when you obtain the final body, you will be called a compassionate self-Buddha.

It will become like that. Why is that? Like this, after you, the merchant, heard the sound of my complete Nirvana, you generated great joy in me. You also generate compassion for sentient beings, and for the benefit and happiness of all sentient beings, you pray to me: 'Please, Bhagavan, do not completely pass into Nirvana, but remain in this world.' Likewise, for the teachings of Maitreya Tathagata, you also generate compassion for those sentient beings, and exhort and urge those who are deluded by sleep, intoxicated, and extremely intoxicated. You will also urge them to practice immeasurable virtuous Dharma. These are the causes and conditions for you, the merchant, to become a Buddha yourself. Merchant, by giving such a great accumulation of merit like this, may you, the merchant, be happy and satisfied, joyful and content! Merchant, you pray to the Tathagata, and because of the joy you generate for the Tathagata, the Tathagata bestows upon you this Dharma joy and Dharma bliss. After saying this, the demon's son, the merchant, prayed to the Bhagavan in this way: 'Bhagavan, even if I pray like that, if you do not allow me to remain like that, Bhagavan, from now on I will make this vow and aspiration: After the Bhagavan has completely passed into Nirvana, for as long as the true Dharma remains, Bhagavan, for that long I will not enjoy forms, sounds, smells, tastes, and tactile sensations. I will not be attached to, play with, or enjoy the five objects of desire. I will not wear other clothes, nor will I enjoy flowers, incense, garlands, and perfumes. Until the Bhagavan's true Dharma has not disappeared, I will not enjoy other heavenly enjoyments and pleasures. Why is that? Bhagavan, like this, tomorrow morning I will be separated from such a precious person, unable to live together, and will be separated, parted, and become very invisible. Bhagavan, what shall I do with joy and play? What shall I do with happiness? What shall I do with contentment? Such a great lamp of wisdom...'
