Ninth, the chapter on Avalokiteśvara, the Lord of Freedom. Ninth, the chapter on Avalokiteśvara, the Lord of Freedom. Thereafter, Avalokiteśvara, the Bodhisattva, the Lord of Freedom, requested the Blessed One: Blessed One, what are the ten bhumis of the Bodhisattvas? They are as follows: the Extremely Joyful Bhumi of the Bodhisattva, the Stainless Bhumi, the Luminous Bhumi, the Radiant Bhumi, the Very Difficult to Conquer Bhumi, the Manifest Bhumi, the Far-Reaching Bhumi, the Immovable Bhumi, the Good Intelligence Bhumi, and the Cloud of Dharma Bhumi. The Buddha Bhumi is the eleventh bhumi. How many kinds of purity and how many kinds of limbs encompass these bhumis? The Blessed One replied: Avalokiteśvara, the Lord of Freedom, these should be known to be encompassed by four kinds of purity and eleven kinds of limbs. Avalokiteśvara, the Lord of Freedom, the first bhumi is encompassed by the purity of intention. The second bhumi is encompassed by the purity of higher discipline. The third bhumi is encompassed by the purity of higher mind. From the fourth bhumi onwards until the Buddha Bhumi, it should be known that they are encompassed by the purity of increasingly excellent higher wisdom. These bhumis are encompassed by these four kinds of purity. What are the eleven limbs? Avalokiteśvara, the Lord of Freedom, on the bhumi of practice with faith, the Bodhisattva, due to extremely cultivating faith in the ten kinds of practiced dharma, transcends that bhumi through forbearance and enters the flawless realm of the Bodhisattva's reality. This is complete with that limb, but because one cannot act with mindfulness regarding the arising of subtle downfalls, that limb is incomplete. In order to complete that limb, it can be obtained through effort. This is complete with that limb, but because one cannot enter into complete worldly samadhi and cannot obtain complete retention dharani, that limb is incomplete. In order to complete that limb, through effort, even if that limb is complete, one cannot abide greatly in how one obtains the dharma that is in accordance with the aspects of enlightenment.

and attachment to entering into samadhi and attachment to the Dharma, one cannot make the mind more equanimous, therefore that limb is not completely perfected. In order to completely perfect that limb, effort will obtain it. Even if that limb is completely perfected, but analyzing the truths, and not being biased towards either samsara or nirvana, and dwelling more equanimously on the mind that is clearly biased, one cannot meditate on the Dharma that is in accordance with the aspects of enlightenment that are completely grasped by skillful means, therefore that limb is not completely perfected.
