Also, there is nothing to be manifested. In what also, there is nothing to be manifested. By what also, there is nothing to be meditated upon. In what also, there is nothing to be meditated upon. There is nothing that has been well meditated upon by anything. By what also, there is nothing that has been well meditated upon. In what also, there is nothing that has been well meditated upon. By what also, there is nothing that is conditioned. In what also, there is nothing that is conditioned. It is the seal of the unmade. It is the seal of the undifferentiated. Kungawo, Those who are sealed by that seal are Bodhisattvas, great beings. They are of noble lineage. They are lions among men. They are of one conduct. They are without fear. They proclaim the sound. They cause other non-Buddhists to be afraid. They subdue the hosts of demons. The sons of the Jina, who defeat the Maras, are made manifestly happy. The nature of reality is also distinguished. The victory banner of the Dharma is also raised in the ten directions. Those ones beat the drum of the Dharma. They drink the essence of the Dharma. By means of excellent speech, the sons of the Victorious Ones are satisfied. Seventeenth fascicle. Ananda, this is like the king of beasts, the lion, manifestly arising from its dwelling place and roaring the lion's roar three times. Then, whatever noble lion cubs there are, having heard that sound, manifest their own bodies. They are without shyness. They are without fear. They are joyous. They are satisfied. They look in the four directions. Ananda, just so, in the assembly of lions, the assembly without shyness, the assembly with great manes, those Bodhisattva-Mahasattvas who have truly entered into higher intention, those whose roots of virtue are not yet fully ripened, whose faculties are not yet fully ripened, having heard that sound, Ananda, in that assembly of the great assembly, they generate joy. They generate satisfaction. Ananda, this is like the king of beasts, the lion, wherever it goes, it always goes alone. It always goes without a companion. Ananda, just so, in the assembly of Bodhisattvas, the assembly of the assembly without shyness, with manes, those lions among Bodhisattvas, wherever they don armor, they always don armor alone, without a companion. Thinking, 'I myself shall manifestly and completely awaken to the Buddhadharma,' and 'I shall manifestly realize the Buddhadharma without a companion,' they don armor alone, without a peer. Ananda, this is like the king of beasts, that very one, in whose womb it dwells, does not take hold of another womb. The king of beasts, the lion, dwells in that womb only once. Ananda, just so, those Bodhisattvas are bound by one lifetime. They dwell in the womb of the Great Vehicle.

These cannot be grasped by the Hearer Vehicle or the Solitary Buddha Vehicle. Ananda, in that case, that assembly is a lion's assembly, a fearless assembly, an assembly of those with matted hair. Ananda, for example, the lion, the king of beasts in the mountains, whether it possesses strength or is weak, when it attacks any kind of creature, it attacks with all its might, and not without all its might. Ananda, similarly, in the assembly of the lion's assembly, those Bodhisattvas with matted hair, whatever Dharma they speak, they only respectfully proclaim it, cause it to be understood, explain it in detail, and also cause other beings to understand it correctly. Ananda, in that case, that is a lion's assembly, a fearless assembly. The twelfth chapter, the chapter on pure retinue. Twelfth, the chapter on pure retinue.
