Eleventh Chapter: The Chapter on Declaring True Renunciation. Eleventh Chapter: The Chapter on Declaring True Renunciation. At that time, in that assembly, there was a boy named Rnampar Gyalwa Srungwa (Victorious Protector), who looked like he was seven years old, sitting in the assembly. Then, the boy Rnampar Gyalwa Srungwa rose from his seat, folded his palms towards where the Blessed One was, and asked the Blessed One in verses: Having heard the Buddha's teachings, I then thought to seek armor. Since a desire has arisen in me, I think I will become like that too. With the Dharma giving of the one with eyes (Buddha), entertain all sentient beings as guests. Speak the words of the best of the herd, I will do likewise, not otherwise. For the sake of taming, O Guide, do not let my desire fail. In the teaching of the Protector of the World, I will renounce in this very life. Renunciation and diligence, as well as qualities and meditation, Samadhi and wisdom are the result. I will rely on these. A desire has arisen for those with eyes, quickly ordain me. Having sought the saffron robes, I will practice the supreme Dharma. Even with wisdom like a mirror, contemplating that world, I will become the best in the world. Please ordain me well. Since everything does not exist, the consciousness of sentient beings does not abide, and after I attain complete enlightenment, I will teach the Dharma of the Guide. Having destroyed the army of Mara, and frightened other heretics, having destroyed the net of views, I will benefit beings. In order to obtain the bliss of Nirvana, I will teach the path. Since there is no birth in it, that path is inconceivable. I will unravel the net, I will be the light of the Dharma. The Dharma of that nature and its characteristics will be taught as it is. I will perform transformations with the power of miracles, and I will show miracles. Those who look at me will dispel all doubts. Then the Blessed One said to the boy Rnampar Gyalwa Srungwa: Boy, do you wish to renounce from home to homelessness in my teaching?

Thereupon he submitted: "Bhagavan, it is so." The Blessed One declared: "Whoever does not hold the ochre robe, and whoever is without defilement, should renounce in my doctrine; that is the dharma to be done. Whoever's hair is not shaved, and all bonds are cut, neither bound nor liberated, that is the renunciation here. Whoever does not study what should be studied, nor abandons what should be studied, but has studied all that should be studied, that is the renunciation here. Whoever does not hold the true dharma, and has contemplated all dharmas, and has relinquished the notion of dharma, that is the renunciation here. Whoever does not think 'I', and whoever does not think 'sentient being', in him fear will not arise; he has entered for enlightenment. Whoever has generated the mind, and does not perceive other dharmas, and does not cling to the mind, that is the renunciation for me." Chapter Sixteen. Then the venerable Sharadvatiputra thought to himself: "For how long will that boy, to whom the Blessed One has shown such profound and deep places, practice?" Then the venerable Sharadvatiputra addressed the Blessed One in verses: "Bhagavan, having heard the profound dharma, not fearing or being dismayed, the conduct of the boy named Victorious Protector, what is it like? Having heard the profound place, not being afraid of it, in previous other births, how many complete Buddhas has he seen? Not becoming lazy, those profound places, from how many supreme two-legged Buddhas has he inquired?" Then the Blessed One again spoke in verses to the venerable Sharadvatiputra: "In the past, I know, in this very place on earth, Victorious Protector has inquired from many thousands of Buddhas. In Anga and Magadha, while practicing the practice of enlightenment, from whom he previously inquired, I also know how many Buddhas. He is very skilled in dharmas and realms, and sources, emptiness, immeasurable, and liberation, places and non-places. Just as in Anga and Magadha, alas, just as knowing the Buddhas.

Thus, in the families of Kashi, the wise ones know this much. That boy named Victorious Protection has attained the Perfection of Wisdom. This arises from pure dharmas. Therefore, knowing such, here one touches the Dharma. Letters as they are, the number of seals, and various crafts, others also know. Apart from that, there is no forgetting. All dharmas are emptiness. Other than the wisdom that transcends the world, worldly wisdom is not spoken of. One does not hold that as supreme. Whoever has such wisdom, all dharmas are emptiness. For him, even in hundreds of kalpas, there is no delusion. That wisdom is great wisdom, having the nature of exhausting afflictions. Whoever does not desire emptiness, that one will not enter the Dharma. Then, the venerable Sharadvatiputra said to the boy Victorious Protection: Young man, do you go forth into the teachings of the Blessed One? Having said so, the boy Victorious Protection said to the venerable Sharadvatiputra: Venerable Sharadvatiputra, I have already gone forth, so I will not go forth. Then, the venerable Sharadvatiputra spoke in verses to the boy Victorious Protection: What clothes have you worn, the ochre robes were not given to you. Your hair has not been shaved either. How did you go forth in this? You have not trained in the training, you do not have a teacher, nor do you have an acharya. How did you go forth? You have not held a begging bowl, you have appeared in the borderlands. Who caused you to go forth in this? How are you disciplined? Where did the sangha complete your going forth? Who did all that for you? How did you go forth? Tell me what I have asked. Having said so, the boy Victorious Protection again spoke in verses to the venerable Sharadvatiputra: Whoever holds the ochre robe, does not hold what is without defilement, nor does he hold what is unborn, that is the one who wears the ochre robe. I have held the garment of wisdom, that is never stained. Always stainless and perfectly pure.
