It is like a great śāla tree of the kṣatriya caste, and a great śāla tree of the brahmin and householder castes that truly achieve enlightenment. Blessed One, I think so. The Blessed One said to him: I do not fully show brahmins, kṣatriyas, and great śāla trees of the householder caste, nor do I fully show the vast, wealthy, gods, nāgas, yakṣas, gandharvas, non-humans, garuḍas, kinnaras, mahoragas, etc., but if someone generates the mind of enlightenment, then generating that mind is worthy of being worshiped by the world with gods. The petitioner: Blessed One, from now on I will generate the mind of unsurpassed, perfect, complete enlightenment. After so reporting, the Blessed One said to the beggar Sarvavijayarakṣita: Sarvavijayarakṣita, it is very good, very good that you follow the Tathāgata. Fourteenth fascicle. Please do not honor me with offerings, The Buddha's wisdom is unparalleled, I seek the sacred wisdom. You are the unparalleled one in the world, You are the supreme one in the world, eternally. You are the island and the sole refuge For those tormented by suffering. You revealed the undefiled Dharma with eyes, Thoroughly liberating from samsara, Teaching the Dharma for the sake of healing. Your miraculous powers are boundless, Your light is also boundless. Your wisdom is supreme, Eminently surpassing with all virtues. To become my master in this way, I have developed a desire for that. Who will give to the poor? My mind became discouraged by that. Kings, householders, Brahmins, And gods, demi-gods, and such, Possessing miraculous powers and great splendor, These excellent men, By whose wealth do the poor Live nearby? Where the world does not allow, Who will give enlightenment? Knowing my mind, You spoke to Shariputra: Generating the mind of enlightenment is what I have taught, I have not taught those of royal lineage, Nor Brahmins, outcasts, or commoners. Neither the inferior nor the superior, gods nor nagas, Yakshas, demi-gods, I have not taught. I have taught the pure mind elsewhere. Having heard that of the Thus-Gone One, Having become powerful, I spoke these words: World protector, you are the supreme master, Thus, for the sake of enlightenment, I have generated this mind. The sky may fall, the earth may be destroyed, The king of mountains, Mount Meru, may be completely destroyed, The realm of space may change, But my mind will never change. All these sentient beings may become demons, In order to transform their minds, Even if they all hinder me, I will not change my mind. If there are some sentient beings here, Coming before me and saying: The sacred wisdom of the Buddha is rare and precious, Who will give enlightenment to the poor? Having heard those words, I will say: You are poorer than I, I am not poor, You have never had faith, Because I have faith, I will become enlightened, You have no Buddha lineage whatsoever.
