Or for the sake of seeking where, or for the sake of striving in this, even if one takes a single step, Steadfast Intelligence, this root of virtue, until the unsurpassable, perfectly complete enlightenment is manifestly realized, I do not say that it will be exhausted or completely depleted in the intermediate state. Why is that? Steadfast Intelligence, even one hundredth part of the previous resources of happiness does not come close to this resource of happiness. A thousandth part, a millionth part, a billion trillionth part, number, part, count, metaphor, reason, cannot be compared. Why is that? Steadfast Intelligence, all the previous resources of happiness are produced from material things, and will not become very ultimate, nor will they become very pure. And Steadfast Intelligence, manifestly striving to completely seek the Dharma, will cause discipline to increase, meditation to increase, wisdom to increase, the Buddha's Dharma to fully mature, inconceivable skillful means to fully mature, and the Buddha's field to be completely purified. Therefore, the Thus-Gone One has shown that the unsurpassable, perfectly complete enlightenment depends on much learning. Steadfast Intelligence, suppose the three thousand great thousand worlds, like a reed thicket, a rice field, a sesame field, or a flax field, were completely filled with the Thus-Gone Ones, and someone for as long as they lived would pay homage, respect, worship, and offer to those Thus-Gone Ones, Arhats, Perfectly Complete Buddhas, and would serve them with clothes, food, bedding, seats, medicine, and resources. Even after those Thus-Gone Ones had completely passed into Nirvana, each would individually around build stupas made of the seven precious materials, each with a yojana in circumference, adorned with umbrellas and platforms, and adorned with lamps and offerings that shine and blaze eternally. What do you think of this? Does that son of good family or daughter of good family generate more merit from that basis? He replied: Blessed One, that son of good family or daughter of good family generates an immeasurable, uncountable mass of merit. Steadfast Intelligence, you should believe and understand. If someone engages in such a mass of merit as described above, and a son of good family or daughter of good family generates the mind of unsurpassed, perfect and complete enlightenment, like this: in order to listen to, teach, read, and fully understand such sutras of the categories of Dharma of the Bodhisattva Pitaka, which cause the Dharmas of the aspects of enlightenment to fully mature, and diligently seeks them everywhere. Steadfast Intelligence, compared to this mass of merit, the previous mass of merit does not even approach a hundredth part, a thousandth part, a hundred thousandth part, a hundred millionth part, number, part, count, metaphor, or cause. Steadfast Intelligence, therefore, if you think of wearing armor in order to listen to, hold, read, and fully understand such sutras in the last five hundred years of the future age, Steadfast Intelligence, I cannot speak of the measure of that mass of merit. I cannot completely exhaust it, nor can I completely deplete it. Steadfast Intelligence, if you want to hear just an example or a part of that mass of merit of generating the mind, can you hear or believe in the miracles of the Thus-Gone One? He replied: Blessed One, by the power of the Blessed One, I can. The Buddha said: Steadfast Intelligence, what do you think of this? Is the realm of the three-thousand great-thousand world large? He replied: Blessed One, it is so. The Blessed One said: Steadfast Intelligence, what do you think of this? If the realm of the three-thousand great-thousand world were completely filled with mustard seeds, and there were as many mustard seeds as there are three-thousand great-thousand worlds

如果有很多装满粮食的斗，那些斗也都各自装满了沙子，坚固的智慧，你觉得怎么样？沙堆是更多吗？回答说：世尊，更多。世尊说：坚固的智慧，如果有人用手拿起沙堆，向四方抛洒，抛洒之后立刻出现风，把沙堆里的每一粒沙子都抛向一个世界，坚固的智慧，你觉得怎么样？东方有多少个世界？所有方向也都是这样。回答说：世尊，不可计数。善逝，不可计数。世尊说：坚固的智慧，你应该信服。坚固的智慧，你应该理解，如来、阿罗汉、正等觉佛陀是行为不可估量，道路不可估量，戒律的彼岸不可估量，神通的彼岸不可估量，智慧的彼岸不可估量。坚固的智慧，如来如果想，在一个世界里迈出一步，如来的行为也不会混乱，如来还没有完全展示神通彼岸的所有形态。仅仅弹指一挥间，就能在像那些沙堆一样多的世界里，一步迈过。仅仅弹指一挥间，就能从向东方行进，到向十方行进，一天，半个月，一个月到一年，一百年到一千年，到十万年间行进。每个方向也能行进到亿万年。坚固的智慧，那么如来所到的那些世界有多少呢？

If there were many bushels measuring the amount of grain, and those were each filled with sand, what do you think, Steadfast Intelligence? Is that pile of sand greater? He replied: Blessed One, it is greater. The Blessed One said: Steadfast Intelligence, if there were someone who took that pile of sand in their hand and scattered it in the four directions, and immediately after scattering it, winds arose that would throw each grain of sand from that pile into a world, what do you think, Steadfast Intelligence? How many worlds would there be in the east? It is the same in all directions. He replied: Blessed One, they would be immeasurable. Sugata, they would be immeasurable. He said: Steadfast Intelligence, you should have faith. Steadfast Intelligence, you should understand, the Tathagata, Arhat, Perfectly Awakened Buddha, is immeasurable in conduct, immeasurable in path, immeasurable in the perfection of discipline, immeasurable in the perfection of miraculous power, immeasurable in the perfection of wisdom. Steadfast Intelligence, if the Tathagata wished, even if he went with one step into those worlds, the conduct of the Tathagata would not be confused, and the Tathagata has not yet fully shown all the forms of the perfection of miraculous power. With just one snap of the fingers, he would go with one step into as many worlds as there are piles of sand. In that way, with just a snap of the fingers, from going to the east, to going to the ten directions, for a day, or half a month, or from one month to one year, or from a hundred years to a thousand years, or for a hundred thousand years, he would go. And in each direction, he would go for hundreds of millions of years. Steadfast Intelligence, how many of those worlds would the Tathagata have gone to in that way?
