Then, the venerable Sharadvatiputra asked the Blessed One, saying: "Venerable Blessed One, with what kind of virtuous roots, what causes, and what conditions will a Bodhisattva Mahasattva be born in that Buddha-field?" After asking this, the Blessed One said to the venerable Sharadvatiputra: "Sharadvatiputra, in this regard, a Bodhisattva A Mahasattva should generate such a mind and make such a vow: 'In order to attain the Blessed One, the Tathagata, the Arhat, the Perfectly Enlightened Buddha Akshobhya, I shall practice the practices that that Buddha practiced in the past when he was a Bodhisattva, and I shall accomplish those practices.' In this way, one will be born in the Buddha-field called Abhirati, in the presence of the Blessed One, the Tathagata, the Arhat, the Perfectly Enlightened Buddha Akshobhya. Sharadvatiputra, this is the cause and the condition for a Bodhisattva Mahasattva to be born in that Buddha-field. Sharadvatiputra, furthermore, a Bodhisattva Mahasattva should, with the virtuous roots he possesses, aspire to be together with the Blessed One, the Tathagata, the Arhat, the Perfectly Enlightened Buddha Akshobhya, and dedicate the perfection of generosity to the unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment. Sharadvatiputra, this is also the cause for a Bodhisattva Mahasattva to be born in that Buddha-field, and it is also the condition.
