Thirty-fifth, Chapter on Patience. Thirty-fifth, Chapter on Patience. The Sutra of Great Expanse Called "Buddha's Excellent Severance," Volume Twenty-eight. Then, the Bodhisattva Samantabhadra again spoke to those Bodhisattvas: "O sons of the Victorious Ones, these ten are the patience attained by the Bodhisattvas, the great beings. Bodhisattvas who possess these attained patiences will attain all unobstructed patience, thereby attaining all unobstructed and inexhaustible Buddha-dharmas. What are these ten? They are: the patience of understanding sounds, the patience of conformity, the patience of the unborn dharmas, the patience like illusion, the patience like mirage, the patience like dreams, the patience like echoes, the patience like reflections, the patience like emanations, and the patience like space. O sons of the Victorious Ones, these ten are the patience attained by the Bodhisattvas, which have been spoken, are being spoken, and will be spoken by the Buddhas, the Bhagavat, of the past, future, and present. O sons of the Victorious Ones, what is the first patience, the patience of understanding sounds? It is that upon hearing these dharmas, one is not afraid, not terrified, does not become frightened, and has faith, conviction, devotion, joy, enters, follows, abides in its nature, and understands. O sons of the Victorious Ones, this is the first patience attained by the Bodhisattvas, the great beings, the patience of understanding sounds. O sons of the Victorious Ones, what is the second patience attained by the Bodhisattvas, the great beings, the patience of conformity? O sons of the Victorious Ones, here, the Bodhisattva, the great being, thinks of these dharmas as conforming, contemplates, examines, equalizes, and does not contradict. He meditates on how to enter these dharmas in conformity, purifies his thoughts, equalizes, strives, realizes, and fully accomplishes. O sons of the Victorious Ones, this is the
