If one is not constantly afraid, and does not become possessed of constant fear, then one practices the Perfection of Wisdom. If one does not truly see that one is practicing, then one practices the Perfection of Wisdom. If one does not truly see that one is approaching Unsurpassed Perfect Enlightenment, then one practices the Perfection of Wisdom. If one does not think that one has extended the grounds of the Hearers and Solitary Buddhas far away, then one practices the Perfection of Wisdom. Blessed One, for example, the sky does not think, 'I am near to some and far from others.' Why is that? Blessed One, because the sky has no discriminations. Blessed One, similarly, when a Bodhisattva Mahasattva practices the Perfection of Wisdom, he does not think, 'I am near to Unsurpassed Perfect Enlightenment, and the grounds of the Hearers and Solitary Buddhas are far from me.' Why is that? Blessed One, because the Perfection of Wisdom has no discriminations. Blessed One, for example, an illusionary person does not think, 'The magician is near to me, and the other assembled crowds are far from me.' Why is that? Blessed One, because the illusionary person has no discriminations. Blessed One, for example, an image does not think, 'That by which the image arises is near to me, but those who have not come near to the mirror or the vessel filled with water are far from me.'

So it is. Why is that? World Honored One, because there is no conceptualization in the image. World Honored One, similarly, when a Bodhisattva Mahasattva practices in the Perfection of Wisdom, they do not think, 'I am close to Unsurpassed Perfect Enlightenment, and the Hearers and Solitary Buddhas will think I am far from them.' Why is that? World Honored One, because there is no conceptualization in the Perfection of Wisdom. World Honored One, for example, the Tathagata has no affection or aversion towards anyone. Why is that? World Honored One, because there is no conceptualization in the Perfection of Wisdom. World Honored One, just as the Tathagata has abandoned all thoughts and conceptualizations, similarly, World Honored One, the Perfection of Wisdom also abandons all thoughts and conceptualizations. World Honored One, for example, when the emanation manifested by the Tathagata Arhat Perfectly Awakened One manifests, it does not think, 'I am close to Unsurpassed Perfect Enlightenment, and the Hearers and Solitary Buddhas will think I am far from them.' Why is that? World Honored One, because there is no conceptualization in the emanation. World Honored One, similarly, when a Bodhisattva Mahasattva practices in the Perfection of Wisdom, they do not think, 'I am close to Unsurpassed Perfect Enlightenment, and the Hearer's stage and Solitary Buddha's stage are far from me.' Why is that? World Honored One, because there is no conceptualization in the Perfection of Wisdom. World Honored One, for example, the emanation does whatever needs to be done, and the emanation does what it needs to do, and the emanation has no conceptualization. Why is that? Because there is no conceptualization in the emanation. World Honored One, similarly, a Bodhisattva Mahasattva does whatever needs to be done for the sake of the Perfection of Wisdom.

To meditate on this perfection, one should also practice, but the Perfection of Wisdom is without conceptualization. Why is that? Because, Blessed One, the Perfection of Wisdom is without conceptualization. Blessed One, for example, if a skilled carpenter or a carpenter's apprentice makes a mechanical device of a man or woman made of wood, whatever he does, he does it easily, but the collection of wood is without conceptualization. Why is that? Because, Blessed One, the collection of wood is without conceptualization. Blessed One, similarly, a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva also easily practices this Perfection of Wisdom for whatever he does, but the Perfection of Wisdom is without conceptualization. Why is that? Because, Blessed One, the Perfection of Wisdom is without conceptualization. This is called the chapter on illusion-like from the Holy Eight Thousand Verse Perfection of Wisdom, the twenty-sixth. Twenty-sixth Chapter: The Chapter on Illusion-like.
