Sixteenth, the Chapter on Suchness. Sixteenth, the Chapter on Suchness. The Eight Thousand Stanza Prajñāpāramitā, Volume Fifteen. Then, the venerable Subhūti said this to the Blessed One: "Blessed One, how amazing! This teaching of the Dharma is such that all dharmas are without any object of focus. Blessed One, this Dharma is unobstructed by anything. Blessed One, how amazing! Like space, because all places are without any object of focus, this Dharma is characterized by being unobstructed. Blessed One, how amazing! Because of being non-dual, this Dharma is characterized by being unequaled. Blessed One, how amazing! Because of being without opponents, this Dharma is characterized by being without peer. Blessed One, how amazing! Because of being without manifest establishment, this Dharma is without abiding. Blessed One, how amazing! Because all births are without birth, this Dharma is without arising. Blessed One, how amazing! Because all paths are imperceptible, this Dharma is without a path." Then, Indra, the lord of the gods, Brahmā, the lord of the Sahā world, and the sons of the gods who dwell in the desire realm and those who dwell in the form realm, said this to the Blessed One: "Blessed One, how amazing! The Blessed One's noble śrāvaka, the venerable Subhūti, is one who is born in accordance with the teachings. Why is that? Blessed One, the venerable Subhūti teaches in this way, whatever Dharma he teaches, he teaches it based on emptiness." Then, the venerable Subhūti said this to Indra, the lord of the gods, Brahmā, the lord of the Sahā world, and the sons of the gods who dwell in the desire realm and those who dwell in the form realm: "Sons of the gods, whoever says, 'The venerable Subhūti is born in accordance with the Tathāgata,' it is because of being unborn that the venerable Subhūti is born in accordance with the Tathāgata. The venerable Subhūti has gone forth in accordance with the suchness of the Tathāgata. Just as the suchness of the Tathāgata neither comes nor goes, the venerable Subhūti

The suchness of Rabjor (rab 'byor, Venerable Subhuti) neither comes nor goes. Thus, Venerable Rabjor follows the suchness of the Tathagata. Venerable Rabjor has followed the suchness of the Tathagata from the very beginning. Why is that? Whatever is the suchness of the Tathagata is the suchness of all dharmas. Whatever is the suchness of all dharmas is the suchness of the Tathagata. Whatever is the suchness of the Tathagata and whatever is the suchness of all dharmas is the suchness of Venerable Rabjor. Venerable Rabjor follows that suchness, therefore he is born after the Tathagata. The suchness of the Tathagata is also not suchness, it follows suchness. Thus, Venerable Rabjor is born after the Tathagata. With whatever abiding is the abiding of the suchness of the Tathagata, with that abiding, Venerable Rabjor is born after the Tathagata. Just as the suchness of the Tathagata is unchanging, unaltering, without conceptualization, and without differentiation, so too, the suchness of Venerable Rabjor is unchanging, unaltering, without conceptualization, and without differentiation. Thus, Venerable Rabjor is also born after the Tathagata with suchness that is unchanging, unaltering, without conceptualization, and without differentiation. Just as the suchness of the Tathagata is unchanging, unaltering, without conceptualization, and without differentiation, without obstruction to anything, so too, the suchness of all dharmas is unchanging, unaltering, without conceptualization, and without differentiation, without obstruction to anything. Why is that? The suchness of the Tathagata

It is not the suchness of anything. Because that is the suchness of anything, therefore, suchness is non-dual, and the non-dual suchness is indivisible. Thus, the venerable Subhūti is born after the Tathāgata by the uncreated suchness. Whatever the uncreated suchness is, that will never become non-suchness. Because that will never become non-suchness, therefore, suchness is non-dual, and the non-dual suchness is indivisible. Thus, the venerable Subhūti is born after the Tathāgata. Just as the Tathāgata's suchness in every way does not discriminate or differentiate all dharmas, so too, the venerable Subhūti's suchness completely does not discriminate or differentiate all dharmas. Similarly, the Tathāgata and Subhūti manifest through suchness, and these two are neither a kalpa nor non-different, because the function of difference is not visible. Thus, the venerable Subhūti is born after the Tathāgata. Just as the Tathāgata's suchness is not other than the suchness of all dharmas, so too, Subhūti's suchness is not other than the suchness of all dharmas, and whatever is not other than the suchness of all dharmas is not the suchness of anything, that will change, and suchness itself is the suchness of all dharmas. Regarding that suchness, the venerable Subhūti acknowledges following with the non-different suchness, and here, there is no acknowledgment of something following something else. Thus, the venerable Subhūti is born after the Tathāgata. Just as the Tathāgata's suchness is not past, not future, not present, so too, the suchness of all dharmas is not past, not future, not present, thus, the venerable Subhūti, having followed that suchness, is called born after the Tathāgata. Thus.
