Furthermore, Kausika, let alone the merit accumulated by giving this Perfection of Wisdom to all beings in a chiliocosm, who have become irreversible. Kausika, if all the beings in a dichiliocosm have become irreversible from unsurpassed, perfect and complete enlightenment, and if any son or daughter of good family writes this Perfection of Wisdom on a scroll, gives it away, entrusts it, and teaches it together with its meaning, together with its letters, and together with its words. Kausika, let alone the merit accumulated by giving this Perfection of Wisdom to all beings in a dichiliocosm, who have become irreversible. Kausika, let alone the merit accumulated by giving this Perfection of Wisdom to all beings in a trichiliocosm, who have become irreversible. Kausika, if all the beings in worlds as numerous as the sands of the Ganges River in a trichiliocosm have become irreversible from unsurpassed, perfect and complete enlightenment, and if any son or daughter of good family writes this Perfection of Wisdom on a scroll, gives it away, entrusts it, and teaches it together with its meaning and together with its letters, Kausika, what do you think? Does that son or daughter of good family generate much merit from that basis? Indra replied: Bhagavan, much, Sugata, much. Bhagavan, that mass of merit is impossible to count.

It is not easy! O Blessed One, to enumerate that mass of merit, or to indicate it by example, or to make it a basis, or to make it a cause. The Blessed One said: Kausika, even more than that, a son or daughter of good family will generate much merit, because those who wish to quickly attain unsurpassed, perfect and complete enlightenment, the irreversible Bodhisattva Mahasattvas, having written this Perfection of Wisdom in a book, give it and entrust it, showing it in detail together with its meaning and letters, and teaching and subsequently instructing this Perfection of Wisdom. Kausika, from then on, another Bodhisattva Mahasattva arose and said: I will attain unsurpassed, perfect and complete enlightenment more quickly than these. Kausika, whichever son or daughter of good family teaches and subsequently instructs this Perfection of Wisdom to that Bodhisattva Mahasattva who has manifest knowledge and is extremely quick, that son or daughter of good family will generate much more merit than the former one. Then, the Lord of the Gods, Indra, said to the Blessed One: O Blessed One, in whatever way the Bodhisattva Mahasattva approaches unsurpassed, perfect and complete enlightenment, in that way one should teach and subsequently instruct the Perfection of Wisdom. In this way, teaching and subsequently instructing the Perfection of Wisdom will lead to approaching Suchness. Approaching Suchness, then those whose clothes, alms, bedding, seats, medicinal remedies for seeking food, and utensils are fully used, those who have done those deeds will make great fruits and great benefits, therefore he will accumulate much merit. What is the reason for that? O Blessed One, because this Bodhisattva Mahasattva is approaching unsurpassed, perfect and complete enlightenment, that is the very reason.

Furthermore, the venerable Subhuti said to Indra, the lord of the gods: "Kausika, it is excellent, excellent that you give joy, embrace, and rejoice in those beings who are of the Bodhisattva Vehicle! Kausika, this is your action: any noble Hearer who wishes to embrace all sentient beings should increase the joy of the great Bodhisattvas in unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment, and embrace and rejoice in them; this is how it should be done. Why is that? Because the unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment of the great Bodhisattvas arises from this. If the great Bodhisattvas had not generated this mind of enlightenment, then those great Bodhisattvas would not learn about unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment, nor would they learn the six perfections. If they did not learn the path, then they would not manifestly awaken to unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment. Therefore, the great Bodhisattvas learn these six perfections, which are the Bodhisattva's training, and therefore they generate the mind of enlightenment. Therefore, they manifestly awaken to unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment." From the Holy Eight Thousand Verse Prajnaparamita, the fifth chapter, called "Chapter on the Categories of Merit," is completed. Chapter Five: Chapter on the Categories of Merit.
