The perfection is the guide to all the dharmas of the path to enlightenment. Subhuti, therefore, a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva should always be inseparable from the Perfection of Wisdom and should be skilled in the dedication of the Perfection of Wisdom. Subhuti, what do you think? If a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva, separated from the Perfection of Wisdom, for as many eons as there are grains of sand in the Ganges River, rejoices in all the roots of virtue of the Buddhas, the Bhagavat, together with the Sangha of Hearers, who have appeared in the past, will appear in the future, and are appearing in the present, and makes them common with all sentient beings, and dedicates them to unsurpassed, perfect and complete enlightenment, does he generate more merit than that basis? He replied: O Blessed One, much more. O Sugata, immeasurable. The Blessed One said: Even more so, whoever abides in this profound Perfection of Wisdom as it has been taught, and even for just one day, rejoices in all those roots of virtue, makes them common with all sentient beings, and dedicates them to unsurpassed, perfect and complete enlightenment, this one generates even more merit. Why is that? Subhuti, the Perfection of Wisdom is the forerunner of all dedications. Subhuti, therefore, a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva should be skilled in the dedication of the Perfection of Wisdom. From the Hundred Thousand Perfection of Wisdom Sutra, this is called the Chapter on the First Entry, the twenty-fourth. Twenty-fourth. Chapter on the First Entry.
