Chapter 7: The Chapter on Non-Apprehension Chapter 7: The Chapter on Non-Apprehension Then, the Venerable Sharadvatiputra said to the Blessed One: "Venerable Blessed One, which virtuous friend completely takes hold of the Bodhisattva Mahasattva, so that upon hearing this teaching of the Perfection of Wisdom, they are not afraid, not alarmed, and do not become apprehensive, and without falling into the grounds of the Hearers and Solitary Buddhas, they will swiftly and certainly arise in the All-Knowingness? Which is the virtuous friend?" Having asked this, the Blessed One said to the Venerable Sharadvatiputra: "Sharadvatiputra, here, the virtuous friend of the Bodhisattva Mahasattva is one who teaches that form is impermanent, and teaches it in the manner of non-apprehension; similarly, teaches that feeling, perception, formation, and consciousness are impermanent, and teaches it in the manner of non-apprehension; and does not dedicate those roots of virtue to the grounds of Hearers and Solitary Buddhas, but only to All-Knowingness. That is the virtuous friend of the Bodhisattva Mahasattva. Sharadvatiputra, furthermore, the virtuous friend of the Bodhisattva Mahasattva is one who teaches that form is suffering, and teaches it in the manner of non-apprehension; similarly, teaches that feeling, perception, formation, and consciousness are suffering, and teaches it in the manner of non-apprehension; and does not dedicate those roots of virtue to the grounds of Hearers and Solitary Buddhas, but only to All-Knowingness. That is the virtuous friend of the Bodhisattva Mahasattva. Sharadvatiputra, furthermore, the virtuous friend of the Bodhisattva Mahasattva is one who teaches that form is without self, empty, without characteristics, without aspiration, peaceful, secluded, completely pure, without birth, without cessation, and without substance.
