Chapter Seven, Eleventh Section, The Chapter on the Nature of Dharma Without Object of Focus. Chapter Seven, Eleventh Section, The Chapter on the Nature of Dharma Without Object of Focus. Then, again, the Venerable Subhuti said to the Blessed One: "Blessed One, if all dharmas are of the nature of non-existence, Blessed One, seeing what meaning does the Bodhisattva-Mahasattva enter into Unsurpassed Perfect Complete Enlightenment for the sake of sentient beings?" The Blessed One said: "Subhuti, the Bodhisattva-Mahasattva enters into Unsurpassed Perfect Complete Enlightenment just as he truly knows that all dharmas are of the nature of non-existence. Why is that? Subhuti, the object of focus is inferior, and for those who have the thought of an object of focus, there is neither attainment, nor realization, nor Unsurpassed Perfect Complete Enlightenment." He asked: "Blessed One, is there attainment, realization, or Unsurpassed Perfect Complete Enlightenment in the absence of an object of focus?" He said: "Subhuti, because the realm of Dharma is not disturbed, non-focus is attainment. Non-focus is attainment, which is realization. Non-focus is Unsurpassed Perfect Complete Enlightenment. Whoever thinks that non-focus is attainment, or realization, or Unsurpassed Perfect Complete Enlightenment, those are only thinking that the realm of Dharma is disturbed. He asked: "Blessed One, if there is no attainment, no realization, and no Unsurpassed Perfect Complete Enlightenment in the absence of an object of focus, and non-focus is attainment, non-focus is realization, non-focus is Unsurpassed Perfect Complete Enlightenment, then, Blessed One, where is the first ground of the Bodhisattva-Mahasattva? Where is the second ground? And where are the ten grounds? Where is the forbearance of the Dharma of non-origination? And abiding in what kind of resultant-born dharmas do they accomplish the maturation of sentient beings, the purification of Buddha-fields, and the Buddhas, the Blessed Ones?"

On the ground, with food and, drinks and, clothes and, vehicles and, incense and, flower garlands and, bedding and, cushions and, lamps and, human perfections, one would attend and serve with reverence, and those would not be interrupted, even between the relics of those who have completely passed into nirvana, and even if matured for the Shravakas, where are the superknowledges born from maturation that will not be surpassed? Where is the giving born from maturation? Where is the discipline born from maturation? Where is the patience born from maturation? Where is the diligence born from maturation? Where is the concentration born from maturation? Where is the wisdom born from maturation? After asking thus, the Blessed One said to the venerable Subhuti: Subhuti, because of the absence of an object of focus, from the first bhumi to the tenth bhumi, all exist. Because of that very reason, the meritorious roots that benefit sentient beings, even up to complete nirvana, there are also the five superknowledges born from the maturation of offerings. Because of that very reason, there are giving, discipline, patience, diligence, meditation, and wisdom born from maturation. Because of that very reason, there are meritorious roots born from maturation. After speaking thus, the venerable Subhuti asked the Blessed One: Blessed One, what is the difference between the absence of an object of focus, and giving, and discipline, and patience, and diligence, and meditation, and wisdom, and superknowledges? What is the distinction? After asking thus, the Blessed One said to the venerable Subhuti: Subhuti, there is no difference between giving without an object of focus and superknowledges. Subhuti, giving without attachment, and discipline, and patience, and diligence, and meditation, and wisdom, and superknowledges, those are different.

It should be believed and practiced. Question: World Honored One, how should the distinctions be explained from the alms of having no possessions to the superknowledges? The Buddha said: Subhuti, here, when a Bodhisattva Mahasattva practices in the Prajnaparamita, he does not fixate on what is given, nor does he fixate on the receiver, nor does he fixate on the giver, nor does he fixate on the giving itself, but he gives alms. He observes morality without fixating on morality. He cultivates patience without fixating on patience. He exerts diligence without fixating on diligence. He enters into samadhi without fixating on samadhi. He meditates on wisdom without fixating on wisdom. Regarding the superknowledges, he uses the superknowledges without fixating on them. Regarding the four mindfulnesses, he cultivates the four mindfulnesses without fixating on them. He cultivates up to the eightfold noble path. Regarding the three samadhis, namely the samadhi of emptiness, the samadhi of signlessness, and the samadhi of wishlessness, he cultivates without fixating. He matures sentient beings without fixating on sentient beings. He purifies the Buddha-fields without fixating on the Buddha-fields. He attains complete enlightenment of Buddhahood without fixating on the Dharmas of the Buddhas. Subhuti, thus, the Bodhisattva Mahasattva practices in the Prajnaparamita without fixation. Subhuti, if a Bodhisattva Mahasattva practices in the Prajnaparamita in this way, then the demons or the gods of the demonic hosts will be difficult to obstruct. Having spoken thus, the venerable Subhuti said to the World Honored One: World Honored One, when a Bodhisattva Mahasattva practices in the Prajnaparamita, how does he completely grasp the six paramitas with one mind? And the four dhyanas, the four immeasurables, the four formless absorptions, the four mindfulnesses, the four right abandonments, the four legs of magical power,
