Chapter Fifty-Two: The Chapter on the Complete Means of the Six Perfections. Chapter Fifty-Two: The Chapter on the Complete Means of the Six Perfections. Then, the venerable Shariputra said to the venerable Subhuti: "Venerable Subhuti, if a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva dwells in the three samadhis of emptiness, signlessness, and wishlessness in a dream, does he increase through the Perfection of Wisdom?" Having said this, the venerable Subhuti said to the venerable Shariputra: "Venerable Shariputra, if he increases by meditating during the day, then he also increases in a dream. Why is that? Venerable Shariputra, dream and day are without distinction. Venerable Shariputra, if a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva meditates and practices the Perfection of Wisdom during the day, then he has a practitioner of the Perfection of Wisdom. Therefore, in the dream of a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva, there is also a practitioner of the Perfection of Wisdom." Having said this, the venerable Shariputra said to the venerable Subhuti: "Venerable Subhuti, if a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva performs an action in a dream, does that action have accumulation or decrease?" Subhuti said: "Venerable Shariputra, if the Blessed One has said that all dharmas are like dreams, then there is no accumulation or decrease. Why is that? Because in a dream, there is no dharma to be accumulated or decreased." Shariputra said: "Venerable Subhuti, if he distinguishes after waking up, then that action also has accumulation or decrease." Then, the venerable Subhuti said to the venerable Shariputra: "Venerable Shariputra, if someone takes a life during the day, or if someone takes a life in a dream, and after waking up thinks, 'I have killed him, I have killed him well,' Venerable Shariputra,
