Chapter Forty-eight: Establishing the Bodhisattva's Training. Chapter Forty-eight: Establishing the Bodhisattva's Training. The Perfection of Wisdom in Eighteen Thousand Lines, Volume Thirty-six. Then, the sons of the gods of the desire realm and the form realm took celestial sandalwood powder and celestial flowers, Utpalas (梵文:Utpala,乌 উৎপল,utpala, blue lotus), Kumudas (梵文:Kumuda,拘ᱢুদ,kumuda, water lily), and white lotuses, and scattered them upon the Blessed One. After scattering them, they approached the Blessed One and bowed their heads at the feet of the Blessed One, and then sat to one side. Having sat to one side, those sons of the gods of the desire realm and the form realm said to the Blessed One: Blessed One, thus it is that the Tathagatas, Arhats, Perfectly Awakened Ones, from this profound Perfection of Wisdom, teach thus: Form itself is all-knowingness, and all-knowingness is also form. Feeling, perception, formations, and consciousness are also all-knowingness, and all-knowingness is also consciousness. The suchness of form and the suchness of all-knowingness, that suchness is one, non-dual, and indivisible. Similarly, apply this: the suchness between the Buddhas and the suchness between all-knowingness, that suchness is one, non-dual, and indivisible. Thus it is taught that the Bodhi Perfection of Wisdom of the Tathagatas is profound, difficult to see, and difficult to understand. It cannot be contemplated and is not the practice of speculation. It is understood by the wise and intelligent who examine it peacefully and meticulously. It is contrary to all the world. After they had spoken thus, the Blessed One said to the sons of the gods of the desire realm and the form realm: Sons of the gods, it is so, it is so. Sons of the gods, form itself is all-knowingness.

It is also thus. The all-knowingness is also form. Similarly, feeling and, perception and, formations and, consciousness itself is also all-knowingness. All-knowingness is also consciousness. Similarly, combining, even up to the Buddha is all-knowingness. All-knowingness is also the Buddha. The suchness of form, and the suchness of what is the suchness of all-knowingness, that is one, non-dual and non-different. Similarly combining, the suchness of what is up to the Buddha, and the suchness of what is the suchness of all-knowingness, that is one, non-dual and non-different. Because of seeing the power of meaning, the Thus-gone-one focused on small actions, and did not focus on teaching the Dharma. What is the reason for that? Alas, it is like this, the enlightenment of the Thus-gone-ones is, profound and difficult to see, and difficult to understand. It cannot be contemplated and is not the conduct of speculation, it is peaceful and understood by the wise and intelligent who examine it carefully, it is incompatible with all the world. That is, no one has fully awakened, and nowhere has fully awakened. For whom there is no duality wandering everywhere, that is the profoundness of all dharmas. Sons of the gods, because the sky is profound, this Dharma is profound. Sons of the gods, because suchness is profound, the realm of Dharma is profound, the true limit is profound, and the inconceivable realm is profound, this Dharma is profound. Sons of the gods, because endless and limitless, and the equality of no coming and going, and the equality of no birth and cessation, and the equality of no complete affliction and complete purification, and the equality of no manifest action, and the profoundness of self, and the profoundness between the knower and the seer, this Dharma is profound. Sons of the gods, because form is profound, this Dharma is profound. Sons of the gods, because feeling and, perception and, formations and, consciousness are profound, this Dharma is profound. Sons of the gods, because the generosity of

Because the practice of profound Prajnaparamita, as well as the Paramitas of morality, patience, diligence, concentration, and wisdom, are profound, therefore this Dharma is profound. Because the emptiness of inner emptiness is profound, therefore this Dharma is profound. Because the emptiness of the nature of non-things is profound, therefore this Dharma is profound. Because the mindfulness is profound, as well as the right exertion, the supernatural power, the faculties, the powers, the branches of enlightenment, and the path are profound, therefore this Dharma is profound. Because of the ten powers, the fearlessness, The various correct knowledges are profound, as well as the eighteen unshared qualities of the Buddha, and up to the omniscience, therefore, sons of the gods, how wonderful, this Dharma is profound! The sons of the gods said: World Honored One, how wonderful! This Dharma has been taught, and it does not correspond to all the world. What is the reason for this? World Honored One, this Dharma is not taught for the sake of grasping form, nor is it for the sake of not grasping; feeling, perception, formations, and consciousness are not taught for the sake of grasping, nor are they for the sake of not grasping; up to the eighteen unshared qualities of the Buddha, they are not taught for the sake of grasping, nor are they for the sake of not grasping; the Buddha's Dharmas are not taught for the sake of grasping, nor are they for the sake of not grasping. World Honored One, this profound Dharma teaching is not taught for the sake of grasping the fruit of stream-entry, nor is it for the sake of not grasping; the fruit of once-returning, the fruit of non-returning, the state of Arhat, solitary enlightenment, and omniscience are not taught for the sake of grasping, nor are they for the sake of not grasping.
