If one wishes to attain enlightenment, the Blessed One prophesied that he would have no birth. If there is no birth, how will he attain it? The Blessed One said: Maitreya, I do not consider his birth to be under the control of karma and defilements. His birth is inconceivable and will be regarded as entering into Nirvana. After he had spoken thus, the Bodhisattva Maitreya said to the Blessed One: Blessed One, it is most wonderful that a Bodhisattva Mahasattva, whose mind is vast and whose superior intention is powerful, should first seek the distinction of goodness and attain the distinction of goodness. Blessed One, what are the vast minds of the Bodhisattvas? Thus, the Bodhisattvas wish to share with all sentient beings the happiness of non-attachment, the happiness of non-grasping, and the happiness of Nirvana, and dedicate it to the unexcelled perfect enlightenment, so as not to abandon samsara. This is regarded as the great power of their superior intention. After he had spoken thus, the Bodhisattva Maitreya said to the Blessed One: Blessed One, the Dharma of the Bodhisattvas is most wonderful and marvelous. The training of the Bodhisattvas is most wonderful and marvelous. If a son or daughter of a noble family wishes to attain the Dharma of a Bodhisattva that is wonderful and marvelous, he should generate the mind of unexcelled perfect enlightenment. The chapter on the divisions of the Bodhisattva's training, the seventy-second chapter. Seventy-second chapter.
