Chapter Sixty Chapter Sixty Again, the venerable Subhūti said to the Blessed One: "Blessed One, if all dharmas are of the nature of non-substantiality, seeing what benefit do Bodhisattvas Mahāsattvas engage in unsurpassed, perfect and complete enlightenment for the sake of sentient beings?" The Blessed One said: "Subhūti, just as all dharmas are of the nature of non-substantiality, so do Bodhisattvas Mahāsattvas engage in unsurpassed, perfect and complete enlightenment. Why is that? Subhūti, the object of focus is narrow, and those with the concept of an object of focus do not attain, do not realize, and do not have unsurpassed, perfect and complete enlightenment." He asked: "Blessed One, is there attainment, realization, or unsurpassed, perfect and complete enlightenment in the absence of an object of focus?" The Blessed One said: "Subhūti, because the realm of dharma is without disturbance, non-objectification itself is attainment. Non-objectification itself is realization. Non-objectification itself is unsurpassed, perfect and complete enlightenment. Whoever desires to attain, realize, or achieve unsurpassed, perfect and complete enlightenment in non-objectification, that person merely desires to disturb the realm of dharma." He asked: "Blessed One, if that is the case, then in the absence of an object of focus, there is no attainment, no realization, and no unsurpassed, perfect and complete enlightenment. If non-objectification itself is attainment, non-objectification itself is realization, and non-objectification itself is unsurpassed, perfect and complete enlightenment, then, Blessed One, where is the first ground of a Bodhisattva Mahāsattva? Where is the second ground? Where is the third ground? And where are the grounds up to the tenth? Where is the tolerance of the unborn dharmas? Where is the super-knowledge born from maturation? Where is the giving born from maturation? Where are the discipline, patience, diligence, meditation, and wisdom born from maturation? Born from maturation

Where are the dharmas on the side of enlightenment? Abiding in those dharmas of maturation, completely maturing beings, completely purifying the Buddha-fields, and serving the Buddhas, the Bhagavat, with any offerings such as food, drink, clothing, bedding, palaces, utensils, flowers, incense, perfumes, garlands, unguents, powders, Dharma robes, umbrellas, banners, streamers, lamps, and the perfections of gods and humans, and even if those relics and Shravakas are matured constantly until complete nirvana, they will not be diminished. Then, for the sake of that Bhagavat, would the Bodhisattva-Mahasattva not disturb the realm of Dharma? The Bhagavat said: Subhuti, because of the unapprehendable, the Bodhisattva-Mahasattva does not disturb the realm of Dharma. Because of that reason, it is the first bhumi of the Bodhisattva-Mahasattva. Because of that reason, it is the second bhumi, the third bhumi, and even up to the tenth bhumi. Because of that reason, it is the acceptance of the Dharma of non-arising. Because of that reason, it is the supernormal knowledge arising from maturation. Because of that reason, it is the giving, ethics, patience, diligence, meditation, and wisdom arising from maturation. Because of that reason, it is the dharmas on the side of enlightenment arising from maturation. Because of that reason, it is the roots of virtue arising from maturation, and those roots of virtue cause the Bodhisattva-Mahasattva to completely mature beings. They completely purify the Buddha-fields, and also serve the Buddhas, the Bhagavat, with any offerings such as food, drink, clothing, bedding, palaces, utensils, flowers, incense, perfumes, garlands, unguents, powders, Dharma robes, umbrellas, banners, streamers, lamps, and the perfections of gods and humans.
