From the Buddha: If it is said to hold a lamp and emit light for sentient beings, then, Subhuti, here, a Bodhisattva Mahasattva, having manifestly and completely awakened to unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment, regarding those that possess the six perfections, possess the four blessings, and possess the four objects of collection, without erring in their meaning, truly teaches sentient beings, and also truly exhorts and joins sentient beings to this, placing and well establishing them. Subhuti, thus, a Bodhisattva Mahasattva, having manifestly and completely awakened to unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment, holds a lamp and emits light for sentient beings. Subhuti, how does a Bodhisattva Mahasattva, having manifestly and completely awakened to unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment, become a guide for sentient beings? Subhuti, here, a Bodhisattva Mahasattva, having manifestly and completely awakened to unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment, for those sentient beings who have entered a bad path and are attached to the four improper ways, in order to purify sentient beings, to truly avert them from sorrow and harm, and to pacify suffering and discomfort, and to understand the Dharma endowed with wisdom, and to manifest nirvana, teaches the path of relying on the one. Subhuti, thus, a Bodhisattva Mahasattva, having manifestly and completely awakened to unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment, becomes a guide for sentient beings. Subhuti, how does a Bodhisattva Mahasattva, having manifestly and completely awakened to unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment, become a leader for sentient beings? Subhuti, here, a Bodhisattva Mahasattva, having manifestly and completely awakened to unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment, teaches the Dharma for form being unborn, unceasing, unpolluted, and unpurified. Feeling, perception, formation, and consciousness are unborn and unceasing.

Therefore, the Dharma is taught because (all phenomena) are unborn, unceasing, without all defilements, and without all purifications. Therefore, the Dharma is taught because the sense bases, the elements, and dependent origination are unborn, unceasing, without all defilements, and without all purifications. Therefore, the Dharma is taught because the perfection of generosity is unborn, unceasing, without all defilements, and without all purifications. Because the perfection of morality, the perfection of patience, the perfection of diligence, the perfection of meditation, and the perfection of wisdom are unborn, unceasing, without all defilements, and without all purifications, therefore the Dharma is taught. Therefore, the Dharma is taught because inner emptiness is unborn, unceasing, without all defilements, and without all purifications. Therefore, the Dharma is taught, up to the emptiness of the nature of non-things, because (they) are unborn, unceasing, without all defilements, and without all purifications. Therefore, the Dharma is taught because the mindfulnesses are unborn, unceasing, without all defilements, and without all purifications. Therefore, the Dharma is taught, up to the eightfold noble path, because (they) are unborn, unceasing, without all defilements, and without all purifications. Because the noble truths, the meditations, the immeasurables, the formless absorptions, the eight liberations, the nine successive abidings, the emptiness liberation gate, the signless, the wishless, the superknowledges, the samadhis, the dharani gates, the ten powers of the Tathagata, the four fearlessnesses, the four analytical knowledges, great love, great compassion, and the eighteen unshared qualities of a Buddha are unborn, unceasing, without all defilements, and without all purifications, therefore the Dharma is taught. Therefore, the Dharma is taught because the fruit of stream-entry is unborn, unceasing, without all

Because there is no affliction and no purification, the Dharma is taught. For the sake of the fruit of once-returner, the fruit of non-returner, the Arhatship, the self-enlightenment, and the unsurpassed perfect complete enlightenment, for the sake of no birth, no cessation, no complete affliction, and no purification, the Dharma is taught. Subhuti, thus, a Bodhisattva Mahasattva, having manifested and completely awakened to the unsurpassed perfect complete enlightenment, becomes the one who leads sentient beings. Subhuti, how does a Bodhisattva Mahasattva, having manifested and completely awakened to the unsurpassed perfect complete enlightenment, become the path for sentient beings? Subhuti, here, a Bodhisattva Mahasattva, having manifested and completely awakened to the unsurpassed perfect complete enlightenment, teaches sentient beings that form is called the nature of space. Feeling, perception, volition, and consciousness are called the nature of space, and he teaches sentient beings. The sense bases, the elements, and dependent origination are called the nature of space, and he teaches sentient beings. All the perfections, all emptinesses, the thirty-seven factors of enlightenment, the noble truths, the meditations, the immeasurables, the formless absorptions, the eight liberations, the nine sequential abidings, the doors of liberation—emptiness, signlessness, wishlessness, the superknowledges, the samadhis, and the doors of dharani, the powers of the Tathagata, the fearlessnesses, the separate correct knowledges, the great love, the great compassion, and the eighteen unshared qualities of the Buddha are called the nature of space, and he teaches sentient beings. Up to the all-knowingness, it is called the nature of space, and he teaches sentient beings. The emptiness of form is going
