consciousness, formations, and consciousness, have not been truly seen; because they have not been truly seen, they are not completely grasped; because they are not completely grasped, they are not closely taken. Subhuti, even I, up to unsurpassed perfect complete enlightenment, have not truly seen; because I have not truly seen, I do not completely grasp; because I do not completely grasp, I do not closely take. Subhuti, even I, the Buddha's ground, the very omniscience, the very all-aspects-knowing, the very Tathagatahood, have not truly seen; because I have not truly seen, I do not completely grasp; because I do not completely grasp, I do not closely take. Subhuti, therefore, a Bodhisattva Mahasattva should not be manifestly attached to form, nor should he completely grasp it. He should not be manifestly attached to feeling, perception, formations, and consciousness, nor should he completely grasp them. He should not be manifestly attached to the sense bases, elements, and dependent origination, nor should he completely grasp them. He should not be manifestly attached to all the perfections, all the emptinesses, the thirty-seven factors of enlightenment, the noble truths, the meditations, the immeasurables, the formless absorptions, the eight liberations, the nine successive abidings, the doors of liberation—emptiness, signlessness, and wishlessness—the superknowledges, the samadhis, the dharani doors, the ten powers of the Tathagata, the four fearlessnesses, the four analytical knowledges, great love, great compassion, and the eighteen unshared qualities of a Buddha, nor should he completely grasp them. He should not be manifestly attached up to unsurpassed perfect complete enlightenment, nor should he completely grasp it. He should not be manifestly attached to Buddhahood, the very omniscience, the very all-aspects-knowing, the very Tathagatahood, nor should he completely grasp it. Then, the sons of the gods who abide in desire and who abide in form said to the Blessed One:

Thus he spoke. World Honored One, this Perfection of Wisdom is profound and difficult to see, difficult to realize, not the domain of those who contemplate impermanence, peaceful and subtle, and should be understood by the wise, the diligent, and those with clear minds. World Honored One, whatever beings have faith in this profound Perfection of Wisdom, have done what the previous Buddhas have done. World Honored One, whatever beings have faith in this profound Perfection of Wisdom are embraced by virtuous friends, and have generated roots of virtue. World Honored One, if all the beings in the three-thousand great thousand world realms, as many as there are, all those who are followers of faith, followers of Dharma, eighth ones, stream-enterers, once-returners, non-returners, Arhats, and Pratyekabuddhas, and all of them have whatever wisdom and abandonment there may be, and if they believe and contemplate this profound Perfection of Wisdom with one mind, and measure, examine, and analyze it, whoever believes in this profound Perfection of Wisdom with one mind, that itself will become the most excellent. Why is that? Because those followers of faith, followers of Dharma, eighth ones, stream-enterers, once-returners, non-returners, Arhats, and Pratyekabuddhas, whatever wisdom they have, whatever abandonment they have, all of that is included in the patience obtained by Bodhisattva Mahasattvas for the non-arising of phenomena. Then the World Honored One spoke to the sons of the gods who dwell in the desire realm and the form realm: Sons of the gods, it is so, it is so. Whatever wisdom and abandonment there is in followers of faith, followers of Dharma, eighth ones, stream-enterers, once-returners, non-returners, Arhats, and Pratyekabuddhas, all of that is included in the patience obtained by Bodhisattva Mahasattvas for the non-arising of phenomena.

Or, any son or daughter of good family, having listened to, heard, and inquired about this profound Prajñāpāramitā, having written it down and received its transmission, reciting it, and properly attending to it, should be known to quickly attain enlightenment. It is not possible for sons and daughters of good family who belong to the vehicle of Śrāvakas and Pratyekabuddhas, if they are separated from Prajñāpāramitā and practice other sūtras for a kalpa or more. Why is that? Because, in this way, from this profound Prajñāpāramitā, for any superior dharma, whether it is what is to be trained in by those who follow faith, those who follow dharma, the eighth, those who have entered the stream, those who return once, those who do not return, the Arhats, and the Pratyekabuddhas, and what is to be trained in by the Bodhisattva-Mahāsattvas, and what is trained in by the Tathāgatas, Arhats, perfectly complete Buddhas, thereby manifestly and completely awakening to unsurpassed, perfectly complete enlightenment, are manifestly and completely awakening, and will manifestly and completely awaken, these have been extensively taught. Then, the sons of the gods who abide in desire and those who abide in form spoke forth in verse, saying: Blessed One, it is like this, this Prajñāpāramitā is the great pāramitā. Blessed One, it is like this, this Prajñāpāramitā is the immeasurable pāramitā. This is the unmeasurable pāramitā. This is the pāramitā of the unequal and the equal. Blessed One, having trained in this profound Prajñāpāramitā, those who follow faith have arisen, are arising, and will arise. Those who follow dharma, the eighth, those who have entered the stream, those who return once, those who do not return, and the Arhats have arisen, are arising, and will arise. Having trained in it, the Pratyekabuddhas have arisen, are arising, and will arise. Having trained in it, the Bodhisattva-Mahāsattvas have attained unsurpassed, perfectly complete enlightenment.
