O great being firmly grounded in the Great Vehicle, in each and every direction—east, south, west, north, northeast, southeast, southwest, northwest, below, and above—in countless and immeasurable world realms, the Tathāgatas, Arhats, Perfectly Awakened Buddhas reside, nurture, and teach the Dharma. These Buddhas, the Bhagavat, have transcended the nature of elaboration, possess undiminished paths of speech, have abandoned burdens, have thoroughly cleared the thorns of the village, have completely severed the bonds of existence, and through perfect knowledge, their minds are utterly liberated. These Buddhas, the Bhagavat, together with their Śrāvaka Saṃgha, accumulate merit. Among them, whether it be a great and noble Kṣatriya lineage, a great and noble Brāhmaṇa lineage, a great and noble householder lineage, or the gods of the Four Great Kings, the Thirty-three, the Yama, the Tuṣita, the Nirmāṇarati, the Paranirmitavaśavartin, the Brahma hosts, the Brahma attendants, the Mahābrahmā, the Brahmakāyika, the Ābhāsvara, the Parīttābha, the Apramāṇābha, the Ābhāsaṃvara, the Śubhakṛtsna, the Parīttaśubha, the Apramāṇaśubha, the Śubhakṛtsna, the Bṛhatphala, the Asañjñisattva, the Avṛha, the Atapa, the Sudṛśa, the Sudarśana, the Akaniṣṭha gods, or anyone else, whatever roots of virtue they have generated, having completely gathered and unified them, having measured them, one rejoices in the most excellent, supreme, foremost, principal, vast, unsurpassed, unequaled, and incomparable manner. Having rejoiced, and having made it common with all sentient beings, one dedicates it entirely to the unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment. Then, the Bodhisattva Mahāsattva Maitreya spoke thus to the venerable Subhūti: "If a Bodhisattva Mahāsattva newly entered into the Great Vehicle, regarding all those roots of virtue of those Buddhas, the Bhagavat, and the Śrāvaka Saṃgha of those Buddhas, the Bhagavat,

Having thought and remembered, the most excellent one who rejoices, the chief of supreme offerings, the abundant one, the unsurpassed one, the one with nothing higher, the unequaled one, rejoicing with the unequal and the equal, and dedicating to the unsurpassed perfect and complete enlightenment. How does a Bodhisattva Mahasattva not become inverted in perception, the mind does not become inverted, the view does not become inverted? Subhuti said: Maitreya, if that Bodhisattva Mahasattva, even thinks of the Buddhas, the Bhagavat, together with the Shravakas, but does not perceive them as Buddhas, does not perceive them as Shravakas, does not perceive them as roots of virtue, and with whatever mind he dedicates, that mind also does not become a perception of mind, then such a Bodhisattva Mahasattva who dedicates does not have inverted perception, the mind does not become inverted, the view does not become inverted. If that Bodhisattva Mahasattva, thinks of the Buddhas, the Bhagavat, together with the Shravakas, and those roots of virtue, grasps at signs and clings to signs, and dedicates to unsurpassed perfect and complete enlightenment, then that Bodhisattva Mahasattva will have inverted perception, the mind will be inverted, the view will be inverted. If that Bodhisattva Mahasattva, with whatever mind, thinks of the Buddhas, the Bhagavat, together with the Shravakas, and those roots of virtue, also truly thinks of that mind, and thus knows that exhaustion is called exhaustion, and cannot dedicate with what is exhausted, the nature of the mind with which he dedicates is also like that, and the nature of the dharma to which he dedicates is also like that. If he dedicates in that way, it is a true dedication and not inverted. Thus, a Bodhisattva Mahasattva should dedicate all the roots of virtue. If a Bodhisattva Mahasattva dedicates the past, the future, and the present

From the initial arising of the minds of all Buddhas, the Bhagavat, to the duration of the sacred Dharma, whatever roots of virtue there are; and whatever roots of virtue there are of the Shravakas and Pratyekabuddhas; and whatever roots of virtue are accumulated by many ordinary beings in those (times); and whatever teachings of the Dharma are heard; and whatever roots of virtue are accumulated by the gods, nagas, yakshas, gandharvas, asuras, garudas, kinnaras, and mahoragas in those (times); and whatever roots of virtue are accumulated by the great and noble kshatriya castes, or the great and noble brahmin castes, or the great and noble householder castes, or the gods of the retinue of the Four Great Kings, or the gods up to Akanishta; and whatever sacred Dharma is heard, and the mind is generated towards the unsurpassed, perfectly complete enlightenment, gathering all of these completely, concentrating and measuring them, rejoicing in the excellent, the supreme, the sacred, the abundant, the unsurpassed, the unequaled, the incomparable. After rejoicing with equality, dedicating all of these to the unsurpassed, perfectly complete enlightenment. If one thinks thus: these dharmas are exhausted, ceased, extinguished, transformed, and the mind to which one dedicates is also empty in its own nature. If one dedicates in this way, it is dedicating to the unsurpassed, perfectly complete enlightenment. If it is thus, one should not dedicate dharma to dharma, why is that? Because one should know that all dharmas are empty in their own nature. If one dedicates in this way, it is dedicating to the unsurpassed, perfectly complete enlightenment. If it is so, when a Bodhisattva Mahasattva practices the Prajnaparamita, the Dhyana Paramita, the Virya Paramita, the Kshanti Paramita, the Shila Paramita, and the Dana Paramita, perception will not be perverted, mind will not be perverted, view will not be perverted.
