As previously stated, whether it be a son or daughter of good family, if they properly contemplate the Perfection of Wisdom and write this Perfection of Wisdom into a book and give it to others, which of these two will have their merit increase more? The Blessed One said: Kauśika, therefore I ask you, speak as you deem appropriate. Kauśika, what do you think? Whether it be a son or daughter of good family, who makes offerings, respects, honors, and reveres many relics of the Thus-Gone One with flowers, garlands, incense, unguents, powders, clothes, umbrellas, banners, streamers, and various musical instruments; or whether it be a son or daughter of good family, who gives away a mustard seed-sized relic of the Thus-Gone One to others; or whether it be a son or daughter of good family, who takes that mustard seed-sized relic of the Thus-Gone One and makes offerings, respects, honors, and reveres it with flowers, garlands, incense, unguents, powders, clothes, umbrellas, banners, streamers, and various musical instruments, which of these will have their merit increase more? Indra replied: Blessed One, I understand the meaning of what the Blessed One has said. For those sons or daughters of good family who make offerings, respect, honor, and revere the many relics of the Thus-Gone One with flowers, garlands, incense, unguents, powders, clothes, umbrellas, banners, streamers, and various musical instruments, it is better to give away a mustard seed-sized relic of the Thus-Gone One to others, for in this way merit will increase even more. Blessed One, the Thus-Gone One, the Arhat, the Perfectly Awakened One, also sees this reason, and having remained in diamond-like concentration, breaks apart the diamond-like body, and in the realm of sentient beings, for those sentient beings who can be tamed by the relics of the Thus-Gone One...

Then, generating great compassion, he blessed them to become relics of the Tathagata. Bhagavan, whoever has little (merit), even a mustard seed-sized relic of the Tathagata, and makes offerings with various offerings, all of those, before reaching the end of that root of virtue, will bring about the end of suffering. The Bhagavan said: Kauśika, it is so, it is so. Kauśika, whichever son or daughter of good family makes this Perfection of Wisdom into a book, and serves, honors, esteems, and worships it with flowers, garlands, incense, unguents, powders, clothes, umbrellas, banners, flags, and various musical instruments, compared to that, whichever son or daughter of good family writes this Perfection of Wisdom and gives it to others with the joy of Dharma, that son or daughter of good family will greatly increase in merit. Kauśika, furthermore, whichever son or daughter of good family, as it has been taught, goes to the presence of others and speaks and teaches this Perfection of Wisdom, and proclaims and explains it, and distinguishes and clarifies it, that son or daughter of good family will increase in merit more than those previous sons or daughters of good family, and should be regarded as a teacher, and should be regarded as a master's place, a wise one, a practitioner of pure conduct. Why is that? Kauśika, that is because this Perfection of Wisdom itself is the teacher, and there is no difference between the teacher and the Perfection of Wisdom, but the Perfection of Wisdom itself is the teacher, and the teacher itself is the Perfection of Wisdom. Why is that? Because by learning this Perfection of Wisdom, the Tathagatas, Arhats, Perfectly Awakened Ones of the past, future, and present, have manifestly awakened to unsurpassed, perfect and complete enlightenment, are manifestly awakening, and will manifestly awaken. Those practitioners of pure conduct also surpass the irreversible Bodhisattvas.

Without omission, they also learned this Prajñāpāramitā, and attained the unsurpassed perfect and complete enlightenment, manifestly attaining Buddhahood. Manifestly attaining Bodhi. Kauśika, therefore, son of good family or daughter of good family, if wishing to offer, respect, honor, and worship the Tathāgatas, Arhats, Samyaksaṃbuddhas with flowers, garlands, incense, unguents, powders, clothing, umbrellas, banners, streamers, various musical instruments, should write this Prajñāpāramitā, and offer with flowers, garlands, incense, unguents, powders, clothing, umbrellas, banners, streamers, various musical instruments. Respect. Honor. Worship. Kauśika, I truly saw that reason, and after attaining the unsurpassed perfect and complete enlightenment, thought: To whom should I offer, respect, honor, and worship, and rely on and practice?
