Chapter Twenty-two. Chapter Twenty-two. Then, the Blessed One said to Indra, the lord of the gods, "Kaushika, even if you were to obtain the Jambudvipa filled to the brim with the relics of the Tathagata, and someone were to offer you this Perfection of Wisdom written in a book, which one would you take?" Indra replied, "Blessed One, if I were to obtain the Jambudvipa filled to the brim with the relics of the Tathagata, and someone were to offer me this Perfection of Wisdom written in a book, I would take this Perfection of Wisdom. Why is that? Blessed One, it is not that I do not serve, do not respect, do not honor, or do not make offerings to the relics of the Tathagata. Blessed One, it is not that I should not serve, should not respect, should not honor, or should not make offerings to the relics of the Tathagata, but because the relics of the Tathagata also arise from the Perfection of Wisdom. Therefore, the relics of the Tathagata should also be served, respected, honored, and offered to. These relics are accomplished by the Perfection of Wisdom, and therefore, the relics of the Tathagata should also receive offerings. Blessed One, whenever I serve, respect, honor, and make offerings to the relics of the Tathagata with divine flowers, garlands, incense, unguents, powders, garments, umbrellas, banners, streamers, and various divine musical instruments, it is also because the relics of the Tathagata arise from the Perfection of Wisdom. Therefore, the world, including gods, humans, and asuras, should serve, respect, honor, and make offerings, protecting and serving, respecting, honoring, and making offerings. Then,

Then, the venerable Śāradvatīputra said to the Lord of the Gods, Indra: Kauśika, this Prajñāpāramitā is ungraspable, formless, invisible, unobstructed, and of one characteristic. If it is thus without characteristics, then how do you think of Prajñāpāramitā as ungraspable, formless, invisible, unobstructed, and of one characteristic, being thus without characteristics? What is the reason for that? Because Prajñāpāramitā does not abide for the sake of grasping and abandoning, not for the sake of decreasing, not for the sake of increasing, not for the sake of producing, not for the sake of diminishing, not for the sake of writing, not for the sake of adding, not for the sake of complete affliction, not for the sake of complete purification, not for the sake of accomplishing the dharmas of the Buddhas, not for the sake of abandoning the dharmas of ordinary beings, not for the sake of accomplishing the dharmas of Bodhisattvas, not for the sake of accomplishing the dharmas of Pratyekabuddhas, not for the sake of accomplishing the dharmas of Śrāvakas, not for the sake of accomplishing the dharmas of learners and non-learners, not for the sake of abandoning the dharmas of ordinary beings, not for the sake of accomplishing the unconditioned realm, not for the sake of abandoning the conditioned realm, not for the sake of accomplishing the perfection of generosity, not for the sake of accomplishing up to the perfection of meditation, not for the sake of accomplishing inner emptiness, not for the sake of accomplishing up to the emptiness of the nature of non-things, not for the sake of accomplishing the mindfulness, not for the sake of accomplishing the right abandonments, not for the sake of accomplishing the miraculous feet, not for the sake of accomplishing the faculties, not for the sake of accomplishing the powers, not for the sake of accomplishing the limbs of enlightenment, not for the sake of accomplishing the eightfold noble path, not for the sake of accomplishing the noble truths, not for the sake of accomplishing the meditations, not for the sake of accomplishing the immeasurables, not for the sake of accomplishing the formless absorptions, not for the sake of accomplishing the liberations, not for the sake of accomplishing the successive abiding absorptions, not for the sake of accomplishing the emptiness liberation gate, not for the sake of accomplishing the signless, not for the sake of accomplishing the wishless, not for the sake of accomplishing the superknowledges, not for the sake of accomplishing the samādhis, not for the sake of accomplishing the dhāraṇī gates, not for the sake of accomplishing the powers of the Tathāgata, not for the sake of accomplishing the fearlessnesses, not for the sake of accomplishing the separate correct knowledges, not for the sake of accomplishing the great love, not for the sake of accomplishing the great compassion, not for the sake of accomplishing the Buddha's dharmas.
