The venerable Subhuti said to those gods: Gods, it is so, it is so. The enlightenment of the Tathagata is inexpressible, it is unspeakable, it is not shown by anyone, it is not heard by anyone, it is not known by anyone. Gods, therefore, if someone wants to abide in the fruit of stream-entry, and wants to realize the fruit of stream-entry, they cannot rely on this patience. If someone wants the fruit of once-returner, the fruit of non-returner, Arhatship, solitary enlightenment, and if someone wants to abide in unsurpassed perfect and complete enlightenment, and wants to realize unsurpassed perfect and complete enlightenment, they cannot rely on this patience. Gods, therefore, Bodhisattva-Mahasattvas, from the time they generate the first thought, should abide in the Perfection of Wisdom because it is inexpressible and cannot be heard. This concludes the twenty-five thousand verse Perfection of Wisdom, chapter fourteen. Chapter Fourteen, second half.
