The Second Chapter: The Chapter on Showing the Unchanging Nature of Dharma. The Second Chapter: The Chapter on Showing the Unchanging Nature of Dharma. Then, the venerable Subhuti said to the Blessed One: "Blessed One, the equality of all dharmas is emptiness by nature. Therefore, since there is no action whatsoever for any dharma, how can a Bodhisattva Mahasattva, when practicing the Perfection of Wisdom, not waver from the meaning, and yet accomplish the benefit of all sentient beings through generosity, kind speech, beneficial action, and acting in accordance with their needs?" The Blessed One replied: "Subhuti, it is so, it is so. It is just as you have said. Emptiness is such that it does not act on anything, nor does it do anything. If these sentient beings were to understand emptiness through ourselves, then they would not waver from emptiness. Furthermore, they would cause sentient beings to be separated from the notion of 'I,' and having separated from the notion of 'I,' they would be liberated from samsara through emptiness. They would cause sentient beings to be separated from the notion of 'sentient being,' and having separated from the notion of 'sentient being,' they would be liberated from samsara through emptiness. They would cause sentient beings to be separated from the notion of 'life,' and having separated from the notion of 'life,' they would be liberated from samsara through emptiness. They would cause sentient beings to be separated from the notion of 'goer,' and having separated from the notion of 'goer,' they would be liberated from samsara through emptiness. They would cause sentient beings to be separated from the notion of 'nourisher,' and having separated from the notion of 'nourisher,' they would be liberated from samsara through emptiness. They would cause sentient beings to be separated from the notion of 'person,' and having separated from the notion of 'person,' they would be liberated from samsara through emptiness. They would cause sentient beings to be separated from the notion of 'pudgala,' and having separated from the notion of 'pudgala,' they would be liberated from samsara through emptiness. They would cause sentient beings to be separated from the notion of 'powerful one,' and having separated from the notion of 'powerful one,' they would be liberated from samsara through emptiness. They would cause sentient beings to be separated from the notion of 'strong one,' and having separated from the notion of 'strong one,' they would be liberated from samsara through emptiness.
