to perceive. To perceive the Dharma with outflows as the Dharma without outflows. To perceive the Dharma without outflows as the Dharma without outflows. To perceive the conditioned Dharma as the conditioned Dharma. To perceive the unconditioned Dharma as the unconditioned Dharma? With the perverted mind of inappropriate attention, those who are associated with the perverted mind, the actions of body, speech, and mind are manifested, and therefore, they cannot be completely liberated from the cycle of the five realms. The Bodhisattva Mahasattva, in the Perfection of Wisdom, gathers all virtuous Dharmas, practices the conduct of a Bodhisattva, and manifestly attains the Unsurpassed Perfect Enlightenment. Having manifestly attained Buddhahood, he completely liberates sentient beings from the cycle of the five realms. The Hundred Thousand Verses of the Perfection of Wisdom, Chapter Twenty-Three, Subhuti's Question: If all Dharmas are empty of their own nature, how does the Bodhisattva Mahasattva manifestly attain the Unsurpassed Perfect Enlightenment and completely liberate sentient beings from the cycle of the five realms? The Blessed One said to Subhuti: Subhuti, here, the Bodhisattva Mahasattva, having manifestly attained the Unsurpassed Perfect Enlightenment, teaches sentient beings about suffering, the origin of suffering, the cessation of suffering, and the path leading to the cessation of suffering. He establishes, sets forth, reveals, distinguishes, clarifies, and rightly speaks. In these Four Noble Truths, all virtuous Dharmas, the aspects of enlightenment, and whatever establishes the Three Jewels, all of that is completely gathered. Because the Buddha Jewel, the Dharma Jewel, and the Sangha Jewel appear in the world, sentient beings are liberated from the cycle of the five realms. Subhuti asked: Blessed One, is Nirvana attained by seeking suffering? Or is Nirvana attained by suffering?

By seeking the origin, will one be completely liberated from suffering? Or will the origin liberate one from suffering? By seeking the cessation of suffering, will one be completely liberated from suffering? Or will the cessation of suffering liberate one from suffering? By seeking the path, will one be completely liberated from suffering? Or will the path liberate one from suffering? The Blessed One said: Subhuti, knowing suffering does not completely liberate one from suffering, nor does suffering itself. Knowing the origin does not completely liberate one from suffering, nor does the origin itself. Knowing the cessation of suffering does not completely liberate one from suffering, nor does the cessation of suffering itself. Knowing the path does not completely liberate one from suffering, nor does the path itself. Subhuti, I have said that the equality of these four noble truths is liberation from suffering, not that knowing suffering completely liberates one from suffering, nor does suffering itself. Nor that knowing the origin completely liberates one from suffering, nor does the origin itself. Not that knowing the cessation of suffering completely liberates one from suffering, nor does the cessation of suffering itself. Not that knowing the path completely liberates one from suffering, nor does the path itself. He asked: Blessed One, what is called the equality of the four noble truths, where there is neither suffering nor seeking suffering; neither origin nor seeking origin; neither cessation nor seeking cessation; neither path nor seeking path? The Blessed One said: It is the suchness of these four noble truths, the non-erroneous suchness, the non-other suchness, the nature of dharma, the realm of dharma, the abiding nature of dharma, the faultless nature of dharma, and the constant ultimate boundary, whether the Tathagatas appear or not, the realm of dharma abides as it is, the nature of dharma does not diminish, it exists without decreasing. Therefore, when a Bodhisattva Mahasattva practices the Perfection of Wisdom, how does one comprehend the truth?

Similarly, one practices in order to comprehend the truth. Subhuti asked: "World Honored One, how should a Bodhisattva Mahasattva practice Prajnaparamita in order to practice for the sake of realizing the truth? How should one practice to realize and seek the truth, and after comprehending it, not fall into the Hearer's stage or the Solitary Buddha's stage, and enter without any faults of a Bodhisattva?" The World Honored One taught: "Subhuti, here, when a Bodhisattva Mahasattva practices Prajnaparamita, it is essential to see that no Dharma has any object of focus. Because all Dharmas have no object of focus, one sees that all Dharmas belonging to the truth or not belonging to the truth are empty. By seeing in this way, the Bodhisattva Mahasattva who comprehends without fault will abide in the lineage ground. If that Bodhisattva abides in the lineage ground, he will not fall from his position. For him, there is no falling from the position of falling into the Hearer's stage or the Solitary Buddha's stage. He abides in that lineage ground of the Bodhisattva and cultivates the four Dhyanas, cultivates the four immeasurables, and cultivates the four formless absorptions. He abides in that ground of higher seeing and knows all Dharmas thoroughly, and comprehends the four noble truths. He completely knows suffering, but does not generate a mind focused on suffering. He completely abandons the origin, but does not generate a mind focused on the origin. He realizes cessation, but does not generate a mind focused on cessation. He cultivates the path, but does not generate a mind focused on the path. Otherwise, with a mind inclined towards enlightenment, he sees all Dharmas as they truly are. Asked: World Honored One, what is meant by 'the true nature of all Dharmas'? The World Honored One replied: It is emptiness. Asked: What is emptiness? The World Honored One replied: It is emptiness of self-nature. With such higher seeing, one observes all Dharmas as empty, and abides in whatever essence
