Towards those perfectly enlightened Buddhas and the Shravaka Sangha, if a son or daughter of good family belonging to the Bodhisattva Vehicle, while they are alive, serves, honors, respects, and makes offerings with robes, alms, bedding, medicine, many implements, and all comforts; even after those Buddhas, the Bhagavat, have completely passed into Nirvana, they practice for the sake of serving, honoring, respecting, and making offerings to their relics day and night with flowers, incense, garlands, perfumes, unguents, powders, robes, umbrellas, banners, and many flags; and giving with a focused mind, keeping vows with a focused mind, practicing patience with a focused mind, exerting effort with a focused mind, entering into meditative concentration with a focused mind, and cultivating wisdom with a focused mind, is not as great as when a son or daughter of good family, who has rightly entered into unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment, practices the perfection of generosity without attachment, practices the perfection of discipline without attachment, practices the perfection of patience without attachment, practices the perfection of diligence without attachment, practices the perfection of meditation without attachment, and practices the perfection of wisdom without attachment, and then, with skillful means, dedicates those roots of virtue entirely to unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment. The accumulation of merit from this, compared to the previous accumulation of merit, does not even come close to one part in a hundred. Not one part in a thousand, not one part in a hundred thousand, not one part in a million, not one part in ten million, not one part in a hundred million, not one part in a billion, not one part in a hundred billion, it cannot even be approached.

And also for number, part, counting, metaphor, and cause, it is intolerable. That dedication itself is said to be the best. It is called the chief. It is called Damapa. It is called supreme. It is called excellent. It is called abundant. It is called unsurpassed. It is called incomparable. Subhuti, in this way, without clinging, when a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva practices the Perfection of Generosity, when practicing the Perfection of Discipline, when practicing the Perfection of Patience, when practicing the Perfection of Diligence, when practicing the Perfection of Meditation, when practicing the Perfection of Wisdom, with skillful means, those roots of virtue should be dedicated to the unsurpassed, perfectly complete enlightenment. From the Hundred Thousand Verses of the Perfection of Wisdom, the chapter on Dedication, the twenty-fourth (ends). The twenty-fourth, the chapter on the categories of merit.
