The Venerable One said: The remaining offenses of the Sangha are not non-existent, but will become gross offenses. Similarly, it is the same for householders. A householder's wife, who was beautiful and attractive, was forcibly taken away by another great minister named 'Protector of the Place' (Gzhongs Gyad Gnas). He sent her many messages, but he could not succeed with the woman, and then the householder passed away. After he passed away, because of a small offense, the minister thought: In any case, is there any way that we can be safe and well in the future? Someone said: There is a way, the minister can force her. The minister sent her many messages, but he could not succeed with her. The minister said: Well then, girl, be happy! By your power alone, these people will be well. She said: Well then, who should be sent with the message now? We have a monk who goes near the village, let him be sent with the message. That monk also went to that village, The householder's wife said: Venerable one, this one called the great minister, will he offer this house of mine, this wealth of mine, and all these things, and ask you to come and enjoy them? Is it possible? He said: It is possible. He went and persuaded him, and the two of them were divided, and the monk felt regret. The Blessed One said: It will become a gross offense. A householder's wife built a monastery for the Sangha, and she offered robes and beneficial medicines there. Later, this householder's wife passed away. After she passed away, no one offered robes and beneficial medicines in that monastery anymore. The monks went to that householder and said: Householder, your wife built a monastery, why don't you also offer some robes, beneficial medicines, and medicines for the sick? Monks, that wife is very fortunate and has great power, whatever she says, she will do it for that. If this wife named so-and-so householder can send me food, then can I still continue to offer it now?

Having spoken thus, those monks went to the wife of that householder and said, "Wife of the householder, are you able to give food to this householder named so-and-so?" Those monks said, "I am not able." That woman has many affairs in this very house of mine, and even that I am not able to do, let alone give to others. Those monks made the householder's wife happy. Will you offer it to the stupa? Will you offer it to the Sangha?" Thus they exhorted. The householder's wife also had faith, and she said, "I will give alms." Those two were repeatedly rotten and broken. That monk felt remorse. The Blessed One declared, "There is no offense." If a householder builds a monastery for the Sangha, and he offers robes and medicines for the sick there, and later does beneficial things, that householder has passed away. That is also explained in detail. That householder's wife, for the sake of that householder named so-and-so, if she is sent to various tasks, she can also offer in this way, which is also explained in detail. The Blessed One declared, "There is no offense." If a monk intends to go to a village in another town, and when he arrives at that town, the householder says, "Venerable one, can you convey a message to the wife named so-and-so, asking her to come here?" Having said this, he went and exhorted her. That woman was also afflicted with illness. That householder was also afflicted with illness, and both of them were afflicted with illness, so that matter was not accomplished. The Blessed One declared, "It becomes a serious offense."
