Thus he spoke. Sisters, for a moment I have committed a fault, therefore, if the Bhikshu Sangha expels me from the residence, then what fault have I committed against the Bhikshuni Sangha? Why impose on me the precept of not being worthy of reverence? Even so, to some who speak ill of the Bhikshunis, I have been angry, agitated, and intimidating, causing them to be discouraged and to generate anger. Thus I have sided with you Bhikshunis, why do you impose on me the precept of not being worthy of reverence? After saying this, the great Prajapati Gautami said to the Bhikshu Greṣa: Venerable Greṣa, even if you see someone causing harm to the Bhikshunis, who allowed you to do so? Moreover, the Bhikshu Sangha has performed the karma of expelling you from the residence, and the Blessed One also said: Impose on the Bhikshunis the precept of not being worthy of reverence! Therefore, we impose the precept of not being worthy of reverence. Furthermore, Greṣa, listen! For the moment you are a son of the Shakya, having renounced from the Shakya clan, possessing the three pitakas, a speaker of the Dharma, even so you are a learned one, do you not ask forgiveness from the Sangha and rebel? Then the Bhikshu Greṣa thought: This great Prajapati Gautami speaks beneficial words, just as if someone falls on the ground, he rises by relying on that ground, so too, I have committed a fault against the Sangha, I will go there, confess to the Sangha, show harmony, stay within the boundary, and ask for forgiveness. Again, Greṣa thought: I will go and see where my sisters are, and then ask the sisters. Then Greṣa went to where the twelve groups were and spoke in detail about those circumstances. For the moment, the twelve groups said this to the Bhikshu Greṣa: Holy Greṣa, you have renounced from various castes, various lineages, and various families.
