If it is not a relative, but is used up for weaving cloth, if the cloth is finished, then it is an offense of expiation involving forfeiture. Furthermore, the term "bhikshu" refers to a son of the Shakya clan, such as Nanda, or anyone else like him. The phrase "with yarn obtained by oneself" means that due to desire, one solicits one srang from some, half a srang from others, two zho from some, and one zho from others. The term "weaver" refers to a textile worker. The phrase "not a relative" means that up to the seventh generation, counting from the maternal grandmother, maternal grandfather, and nephew, are relatives, but beyond that, they are not relatives. The phrase "used up for weaving cloth" refers to any of the seven types of cloth: wool cloth, shana cloth, zarma cloth, dugula cloth, cotton-wool cloth, kotampa cloth, and nyo cloth. The phrase "if the cloth is finished" means if the cloth is obtained. The phrase "it is an offense of expiation involving forfeiture" means that after abandoning that object, one must confess the offense of expiation involving forfeiture. Therefore, it is said, "it is an offense of expiation involving forfeiture." How does one incur an offense? If a bhikshu solicits yarn from a non-relative and has a non-relative weaver weave cloth, then soliciting the yarn incurs an offense of wrong-doing, and having the non-relative weaver weave the cloth incurs an offense of expiation involving forfeiture. If a bhikshu solicits yarn from a relative and weaves it himself, then soliciting the yarn incurs an offense of wrong-doing, and weaving it himself also incurs an offense of wrong-doing. If a bhikshu solicits yarn from a non-relative and has a weaver who is both a relative and a non-relative weave cloth, then soliciting the yarn incurs an offense of wrong-doing, but having the relative weaver weave the cloth does not incur an offense. Having the non-relative weaver weave the cloth incurs an offense of expiation involving forfeiture. If a bhikshu solicits yarn from a non-relative and has himself and a non-relative weaver weave cloth, then soliciting the yarn incurs an offense of wrong-doing, and weaving it himself also incurs an offense of wrong-doing. Having the non-relative weaver weave the cloth incurs an offense of expiation involving forfeiture. If a bhikshu solicits yarn from a non-relative and has himself and a relative weaver weave cloth, then soliciting the yarn incurs an offense of wrong-doing, and weaving it himself also incurs an offense of wrong-doing.
