Then, because of such a reason, leaving that place, there is no fault of breaking the summer retreat. Likewise, if a monk relies on a woman, a man, or a hermaphrodite to vow to spend the summer retreat, and now these people are seized by dragons? Imprisoned? Killed? Their property stolen? Fled to another place because of the fear of dragons? Fled to another country? Or died? Then, the monk who vowed to spend the summer retreat thinks like this: Those women, men, or hermaphrodites on whom I relied to vow to spend the summer retreat here, were they seized by dragons? Imprisoned? Killed? Their property stolen? Fled to another place because of the fear of dragons? Fled to another country? Or died? If I continue to spend the summer retreat in this place, this will become an obstacle to my life, an obstacle to my practice, and an obstacle to my pure conduct. I will leave this place. Therefore, because of such a reason, leaving that place, there is no fault of breaking the summer retreat. Likewise, building a temple in the middle of a forest, up to what was said above. Therefore, because of such a reason, leaving that place, there is no fault of breaking the summer retreat. Likewise, if a monk relies on a woman, a man, or a hermaphrodite to vow to spend the summer retreat, and now these people are burned by fire? Their property burned by fire? Fled to another place because of the fear of fire? Fled to another country? Or died? Then, the monk who vowed to spend the summer retreat thinks like this: Those women, men, or hermaphrodites on whom I relied to vow to spend the summer retreat here, were they burned by fire? Their property burned by fire? Fled to another place because of the fear of fire? Fled to another country? Or died? Therefore, because of such a reason, leaving that place, there is no fault of breaking the summer retreat. Likewise, building a temple in the middle of an open space, up to what was said above. Therefore, because of such a reason, leaving that place, there is no fault of breaking the summer retreat. Likewise, if a monk

Or, because of a woman, or because of a man, or because of any non-male or non-female, thereby vowing to dwell in retreat, that person is washed away by water, or his property is washed away by water, or because of the fear of water, he flees to another place, or flees to another place or dies. At that time, the bhikkhu who has vowed to dwell in retreat thinks like this: I, because of a woman, or because of a man, or because of any non-male or non-female, thereby vowing to dwell in retreat, that person is washed away by water, or his property is washed away by water, or because of the fear of water, he flees to another place, or flees to another place or dies. If I dwell in retreat here, then that matter will become an obstacle to my life, an obstacle to practicing virtue, and an obstacle to celibacy. Enough, I will leave this place. Therefore, because of such a cause, leaving that place, therefore breaking the retreat does not incur an offense. The verse says: Breaking the retreat does not incur an offense, vowing to dwell in retreat is good. The former has twelve kinds, and the latter also has twelve kinds. Like this, the bhikkhu who has vowed to dwell in retreat, strives to make a bhikkhu split the Sangha, and like that, like that, makes the bhikkhus know, completely makes them know, teaches, makes him hold. And, if he sees that any place where the Sangha will split during the retreat exists. At that time, the bhikkhu who has vowed to dwell in retreat thinks like this: If I vow to dwell in retreat here, this bhikkhu strives to make the Sangha split, and like that, like that, makes the bhikkhus know, completely makes them know, teaches, makes him hold, and any place where the Sangha will split during the retreat exists. If I dwell in retreat here, then any discordant mind arises, or unexamined words appear, then this place will become an obstacle to my obtaining what has not been obtained, realizing what has not been realized, and manifesting what has not been manifested. Enough, I will leave this place. Therefore, because of such a cause, leaving that place, therefore breaking the retreat does not incur an offense. Like this, the bhikkhu who has vowed to dwell in retreat, in a certain place, a bhikkhu splits the Sangha.
